@GutsyCiCi @PhDVoice @OpenAcademics @AcademicChatter @PhD_Genie I would invite your friends and family. I had defense a hybrid set up so some people came in-person and some joined over Zoom. People who came in-person left me alone to prepare and I had someone co-host my Zoom call to manage attendees. It worked very well and I felt supported!

Shout out to people seeing and saying something. I was verbally harassed while waiting for a lyft on my front porch, and a woman walking by picked a bottle out of my neighbors recycling, asked if it was my orange juice, and kept up a conversation about juice until the man left.

Last Friday I successfully defended my #dissertation. During the 5.5 years, I met amazing friends, met my partner, got a dog, was diagnosed with a chronic illness, and started a crocheting Etsy shop.

@Soil_gal Big big congrats, Lauren. The topic looks really interesting to me. Could you please share your dissertation when it is done?

Last Monday, I presented my work on how #soilhealth practices impact subsurface #phosphorus losses on the #DelmarvaPeninsula at the @DMVSoilSummit. I really enjoyed chatting with so many people about their work related to soil health.
