AWS just published a peer-validated case study showing a Bitcoin Teranode cluster sustained 1,000,000 transactions per second. Six AWS regions. Two consecutive weeks. Zero loss. The "Bitcoin can't scale" argument did not lose the debate. It got buried under the receipt. 🧵👇

To be clear. I don’t see BSV at $20 or $100 or even $1,000. I see BSV as the base layer for nearly all blockchain traffic, the #1 Market cap coin and it being recognized as Bitcoin. It is Bitcoin. Those running Teranode say it is the fastest blockchain software they’ve ever seen

Sie zerstören alle fossilen Energiequellen mit Vorsatz. 1 Milliarde Tonnen Reserve. Die Überflutung des Braunkohlereviers wäre unumkehrbar und sie wäre für immer verloren. Und genau das ist deren Plan. Es grenzt mMn an Verrat. Sie gehören eingesperrt.

Germany is about to make yet another irreversible energy decision at Hambach that goes far beyond land restoration. It cuts directly into the country’s long term energy security. The Hambach open pit mine in North Rhine Westphalia is one of the largest lignite reserves in Europe. Beneath it sits well over 1 billion tonnes of extractable lignite, part of a broader basin that has powered German industry for decades. At peak operation, Hambach and the surrounding Rhineland mines supplied a significant share of Germany’s baseload electricity, with lignite alone historically contributing 20 to 25% of national power generation. From 2030, the plan is to flood the mine using water diverted from the Rhine, gradually creating an artificial lake reaching depths of 300 to 360 meters. This is not a surface level transformation. It will submerge the entire excavation zone, including remaining coal seams that extend deep into the basin. Once filled, the hydrostatic pressure, water infiltration, and structural destabilization of the mine walls will make any future extraction technically unviable and economically irrational. In practical terms, this means that hundreds of millions to over a billion tonnes of lignite will be permanently locked away. Even if future governments wanted to reverse course, draining a lake of this scale, stabilizing the geology, and rebuilding mining infrastructure would take decades and tens of billions in cost. It is, for all intents and purposes, a one way decision. This is what makes Hambach different. It is not a transition. It is a deliberate removal of optionality. And it comes after a series of compounding policy choices that have already weakened Germany’s energy system. Over the past decade, the country has:- • Shut down the majority of its nuclear power plants, removing stable, zero carbon baseload capacity • Decommissioned modern coal facilities, including plants that were operating at high efficiency • Increased dependence on imported energy while reducing domestic production buffers The consequences of this are no longer theoretical. They have already played out twice in rapid succession. In 2022, the Russia Ukraine conflict exposed Germany’s dependence on external gas supplies, triggering the most severe energy crisis in decades. Now, just a few years later, the ongoing Middle East conflict has pushed fuel prices up by 30% and natural gas prices up by 25 to 30% in a matter of weeks. What these shocks reveal is not just vulnerability, but the absence of fallback capacity. This is where Hambach becomes critical. Instead of preserving a strategic domestic reserve exceeding 1 billion tonnes, Germany is choosing to eliminate it at a time when global energy markets are becoming more volatile and politically constrained. The contrast with other major economies is stark. China and India continue to expand their energy systems by layering renewables on top of existing fossil capacity. Together, they consume over 3 billion tonnes of coal annually, ensuring that their grids remain stable even under extreme demand or supply disruptions. Their approach is additive. Germany’s has been subtractive. A sure shot losing bet. And the economic impact is now visible across multiple dimensions:- • Electricity prices for households are 2× higher than France • Industrial power costs reached €0.14 per kWh, forcing €4.5 billion in subsidies • Germany increasingly imports nuclear power from France and coal generated electricity from Poland • Domestic baseload capacity continues to shrink while demand remains industrially high What Hambach represents is not just an environmental project. It is the final step in removing one of the last large scale domestic energy buffers Germany still possesses. Because once flooded:- • 1 billion tonnes of lignite becomes inaccessible • Recovery would require decades and tens of billions in reinvestment • Germany loses a critical emergency energy reserve permanently • Future policy flexibility is eliminated At the same time:- • Global energy demand continues to rise • Geopolitical risks around supply chains are increasing • Competing economies are expanding, not reducing, their energy base Energy systems are not built for ideal conditions. They are built for stress scenarios. Germany has now faced two major shocks in under five years. In both cases, reduced domestic capacity translated directly into higher prices, subsidies, and economic strain. Hambach removes the ability to respond differently the next time. And that is the core issue. There is no precedent for a major industrial economy maintaining competitiveness with constrained, expensive, and externally dependent energy. Every historical and modern example points in the opposite direction. Flooding Hambach is not just about a lake. It is about permanently giving up a billion tonne energy reserve in an increasingly uncertain world.

Deutschland zahlt also das Vierfache.

Germany's largest open-pit mine sits on more than 1 billion tonnes of extractable lignite. But starting in 2030, Rhine water will flood the pit, creating a 360-metre-deep lake. It's not a coincidence that the state's environmental ministry where the mine is located (Nordrhein-Westfalen) is led by the Green party. The same political class that dynamited functioning nuclear cooling towers is now drowning a billion tonnes of domestic fuel under a recreational lake. Once the pit fills, the coal beneath becomes permanently inaccessible. No future government can reverse a 360-metre column of water. The decision to flood Hambach is the deliberate, irreversible destruction of a strategic reserve, executed by politicians who price energy security at zero.

Chronicle activates April 7th. I want to take a moment to explain why this upgrade matters - not just technically, but personally. First, huge thanks to everyone involved. The developers who did the actual work, and the community members who contributed to ensuring the scope was as airtight as possible while promoting stability. Maintaining stability while restoring the original protocol was a delicate balance, and the final release reflects all the hard work that went into ensuring that. Why restore the original protocol? This isn't just about completion for its own sake. Over the years, a lot of restrictions were added to Bitcoin. And in the same way that central planning can destroy an economy, centrally planning and limiting developer creativity means we have no idea what possibilities the original protocol actually enabled. We know it allowed more flexibility. We imagine that as better Bitcoin scripting engineers emerge and people learn more about the underlying protocol, they'll take advantage of use cases we can't even predict yet. Chronicle removes those artificial constraints. This is the core of the BSV Association's mandate. There should be no central person or group of people that tell you how you can build on top of the protocol. Original Transaction Digest Algorithm (OTDA) One of the most significant changes is the restoration of the Original Transaction Digest Algorithm. BSV will now support both the OTDA and the current BIP143 digest algorithm. Developers can opt into OTDA by setting the new CHRONICLE sighash flag (0x20). If you do nothing, existing behavior is preserved - BIP143 continues to work exactly as before. This gives developers the flexibility to choose which digest algorithm fits their use case, whether that's maintaining compatibility with existing systems or leveraging the original protocol's behavior. Transaction malleability Transaction malleability has been treated as this big scary problem throughout Bitcoin's history. There were a lot of patches added to Bitcoin over the years specifically to prevent it. But in doing so, they limited developer flexibility significantly. Here's the thing: transaction malleability itself isn't actually a problem. It was only perceived as one because of how people were doing payments in Bitcoin - which was always wrong. Payments in Bitcoin were always meant to be peer-to-peer, then broadcast directly to the mining network. This is outlined in the Simplified Payment Verification section of the white paper. The work that has been done on all of the development tooling and the BRC-100 standard has enabled users and developers to utilize SPV. Transaction malleability was a concern based on a misunderstanding of the payment flow, and a misunderstanding of nodes themselves. Because they misunderstood how payments should work and are convinced that miners will behave irrationally, they put in a bunch of restrictions on developers. And here's the clever part: this is opt-in. Transactions using version 1 keep all existing restrictions. Only transactions with version > 1 get the relaxed rules. Existing applications remain completely unaffected. So if you are reading this and think "no way Connor is right about this" - then you can continue to ensure payments made with your wallet or application are not susceptible to malleability. Restored opcodes Chronicle re-instates several opcodes that were disabled years ago. Of note: • OP_VER, OP_VERIF, OP_VERNOTIF — access the transaction version directly in script • OP_LSHIFTNUM, OP_RSHIFTNUM — numerical bit shifting (restored to mimic the original behavior of OP_LSHIFT and OP_RSHIFT) Business continuity In line with BSV's commitment to stability: if you do nothing, nothing breaks. Existing applications using BIP143 without the CHRONICLE flag remain completely unaffected. The changes are all opt-in. This was deliberate - we needed to restore the original protocol while respecting that real businesses depend on the current state. Personal note I've been in BSV since day one. The uniting goal, shared with other community members, was always restoring the Bitcoin protocol and locking it. Set in stone. I'm proud to have played my part in that, and to have been involved in the actual work being done by the developers to enable it. The work of the Association in doing this restoration is finally done. The protocol Satoshi designed is back. This is cause for celebration. Let's build.
