Why do young long snappers see big improvements early on, and then hit a wall when they get to the college level? When a player is just starting with long snapping, there’s a huge gap between not doing it at all and doing it with some consistency. In this stage: - Even imperfect mechanics will produce measurable improvement. You could be doing the most inefficient techniques and still see gains. There are a lot of bad cues out there that “work” but aren’t the best thing to do. Athletes chase comfort rather than what is the most technically sound. - You’ll see big jumps in accuracy, speed, and confidence just because you’re building the basic motor pattern. - Errors don’t cost you as much in performance because you’re still developing ANY repeatable motion. This is why new snappers often improve quickly while using poor technique. The nervous system is learning a new skill so even rough practice will build you to a point. Once you’ve built a basic foundation, the gains from “just putting in reps” shrink. Now your body knows a pattern, so now what matters most is execution. - Energy leaks matter. If your torso and hands aren’t sequencing correctly, your block isn’t hitting at the right time, you’ll waste energy that could be going into the ball. - Small inefficiencies show up on tape. Unbalanced hands, lack of body control, poor posture don’t help you advance to the next level. - Progress slows if you keep practicing inefficient movement. You might still see small improvements but not at the rate of when you first started. In other words; early on, imperfect technique still gets the job done enough to look like progress. At higher levels, imperfection becomes the reason you stop improving. If you start your snapping career with efficient techniques, you won’t have to relearn everything you’ve done for years to be able to get on the right track to see gains at the higher levels!

Class of 2027 long snapper @KeatonMiddle56 made the trip to Eau Claire, WI to chase perfection! Keaton has been putting in serious work through our virtual training, along with my certified coach Harrison Elliott down in Georgia. Having both of us in his corner has created a strong system, and it’s showing up in his progress. This week, our focus was on creating more flow. Keaton had some tightness through his shoulders that was limiting his ability to create length and accelerate the ball. We worked through mobility and gave him a clear plan so he knows exactly what to stay on top of moving forward. We also spent time cleaning up his posture. He was struggling to lengthen his spine, which made sequencing tough. Once we got him into better positions, he was able to engage his core, move more efficiently, and throw a faster ball without needing to force it. Keaton attacked the week the right way. Excited to keep building with him as he continues to chase perfection. $100 off Razor Pads - Visit STU Shop 15% off Wilson FB - “Stelter-270” 15% off Vivo Barefoot - “Kyle Stelter” $15 off Football Green Book - “fgb25” 10% off Light Helmets - “LIGHT10” 10% off Net Return - thenetreturn.com/SpecialTeamsU 10% off Fringe Red Light - “CoachStelter” #longsnap #longsnapper #longsnapping #football #specialteamsu

Rice University @RiceFootball long snapper @evans_morrow made the trip to Eau Claire, WI to chase perfection! Morrow’s path has come full circle. He committed to Ohio State out of high school, learned from two of my other guys, and eventually reached out to start training together. From there he transferred to UCLA to compete for a starting role, and now he’s landed at Rice, right down the road from home. Excited to see him get on the field this season. During our evaluation, the biggest issue showed up at the finish. His hands were all over the place, which came from being unbalanced at the start. It wasn’t the most comfortable change right away, but we made subtle adjustments to his grip and gave him a clear picture of what his hands should look and feel like through the snap. Once it clicked, we hammered it. Every drill came back to owning that finish. After we built consistency with his hands, we dug deeper into cover flow and sequencing. That’s where things really took off. He was able to throw the same speed ball without the extra effort, even after 8 hours of work. That’s what efficiency looks like. Morrow made big time gains. Excited to keep helping him chase perfection. $100 off Razor Pads – Visit STU Shop 15% off Wilson FB – “Stelter-270” 15% off Vivo Barefoot – “Kyle Stelter” $15 off Football Green Book – “fgb25” 10% off Light Helmets – “LIGHT10” 10% off Net Return – thenetreturn.com/SpecialTeamsU 10% off Fringe Red Light – “CoachStelter” #longsnap #longsnapper #longsnapping #football #specialteamsu

Been working hard these past two months on perfecting my snaps! Had two awesome sessions with Nick Levy this week to blend drills into full snaps. My snapping has come a long way in the last nine months, focusing on consistency, accuracy, and speed. Huge thanks to SpecialteamsU and Nick Levy for all their support on this journey! #NoOffDays #FaithOverFear #TrustTheProcess #collegerecruiting #Specialists #AGTG #classof2027 #classof27 #footballrecruit #collegerecruiting #longsnapper #LS #OL #practicemakesprogress #chasingperfection #gounnoticed @SpecialTeamsU @_NickLevy @yates_nathan @MVHS_SPORTS @TheViewFootball

Class of 2028 long snapper Quinton Yankanna made the trip to Eau Claire, WI to chase perfection! Quinton and his family came all the way from Vancouver, Canada to get to work. He’s still relatively new to snapping and wanted to build things the right way from the start. We kicked things off with our standard assessment, then got into a whiteboard session to break down the movement principles. Once you understand how the body should move, adjustments start to make a lot more sense. Like most young snappers, the focus was on smoothing things out and learning how to control his body. We spent time opening up his mobility to make positions easier to get into and easier to repeat. We also built out a consistent warm up routine. If you’re not preparing your body the right way, it’s hard to move the right way. Quinton picked things up fast and made noticeable gains throughout the session. Excited to keep building with him virtually and help him continue to chase perfection. $100 off Razor Pads - Visit STU Shop 15% off Wilson FB - “Stelter-270” 15% off Vivo Barefoot - “Kyle Stelter” $15 off Football Green Book - “fgb25” 10% off Light Helmets - “LIGHT10” 10% off Net Return - thenetreturn.com/SpecialTeamsU 10% off Fringe Red Light - “CoachStelter” #longsnap #longsnapper #longsnapping #football #specialteamsu
