The TEJAS Workshop in Ramanathapuram brought together 300+ students, aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, startup founders, and ecosystem stakeholders to explore opportunities within India's growing startup ecosystem. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Shri. C.N. Premkumar, Associate Vice President, StartupTN, who shared StartupTN's vision for strengthening entrepreneurship and innovation across Tamil Nadu. The TEJAS Workshop in Ramanathapuram was graced by Hon’ble P. Mathanraj, Minister for MSME, Government of Tamil Nadu, who addressed students, startup founders, entrepreneurs, academia, and ecosystem stakeholders on the transformative role of innovation and entrepreneurship in shaping the State’s future. In his address, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted Tamil Nadu’s journey from being an industrial powerhouse to becoming an innovation-driven economy, emphasizing that innovation is no longer optional—it is the foundation of economic growth. He noted that while MSMEs remain the backbone of the economy, startups are its engines of innovation, and together they will drive the State’s next phase of growth. The Hon’ble Minister also encouraged young innovators to identify local challenges and transform them into entrepreneurial opportunities, reiterating that every district has the potential to become a hub of innovation and employment generation. The TEJAS (Transforming Entrepreneurial Journeys Across States & Districts) Workshop was graced by Shri Ateesh Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary, DPIIT, who witnessed first-hand the growing spirit of innovation emerging from grassroots India. The event featured a Startup Showcase with 30+ startup and student innovation exhibits, along with 10 Self-Help Group (SHG) stalls, showcasing solutions across MedTech, CleanTech, AI-enabled learning technologies, LiDAR, Automotive, Defence Technologies, and rural innovation. Several student innovators presented working prototypes that had already undergone technical validation at accredited laboratories—demonstrating the immense innovation potential emerging from schools, colleges, and local communities. Interacting with startup founders, student innovators, women entrepreneurs, and Self-Help Groups, Shri Ateesh Kumar Singh appreciated the quality of innovations and encouraged them to continue solving real-world challenges through entrepreneurship. In his address, he emphasized that TEJAS is not merely about conducting workshops—it is about nurturing innovation ecosystems in districts, connecting entrepreneurs with incubation, mentorship, industry, and Government support, and inspiring the next generation of job creators.
