Eli asks if the crowded Democratic lineup worries me. It doesn't, and here's why:

Here's @MattMahanSJ, on the lessons — both politics and policy — of trying to cut unsheltered homelessness in San Jose to zero

Who's been the strongest debater among the Democrats running for CA Governor? @melmason: "consistently @MattMahanSJ...." @politicoca's bureau chief says the San Jose Mayor has intro'd himself & pivoted to effective attacks. He's trying to be a "Goldilocks" candidate: not too MAGA but not too progressive.

NEW: We were hoping to interview California High-Speed Rail CEO Ian Choudri today about issues with his business plan, but it’s not happening. He wanted to limit what we ask, banning questions about issues that came up about him in February. We would not agree to those terms.

Not to channel my inner-William F. Buckley, Jr. But @MattMahanSJ may actually be the most dangerous Democrat running for Governor. He actually seems to both want to embrace progressivism and try to make it work. What a horrible combination. We need to shrink the size and scope of government, not make left-wing policies work. If you believe, like I do, that successfully implemented, ultra-liberal policies are really really awful for this state and our people, you should share my concern.

🆕 #PPICsurvey: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ may be the best way to describe likely voters’ feelings about the race for state superintendent of public instruction. None of the 10 candidates has 10% support from likely voters, while 32% are undecided. Full report ➡️ bit.ly/4sxQ8h2

I am suspending my campaign for Governor. To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s.
