“I just received the shock of my life. I saw a man begging someone to give him a little money so he could buy sachet water to drink. I went to my car, found ₦40 in a box, and gave it to him so he could at least buy water. But as I was about to hand it over, he told me that ₦40 can no longer buy sachet water, that it is now ₦50. This is only President Tinubu’s first tenure. By the second tenure, we may be buying one sachet of water for ₦100.” — Man reacts

🇳🇬 JUST IN: Nigeria Earned ₦84 Trillion in Three Years, But ₦34 Trillion Never Reached the Federation Account - Obi Says the System Is Deeply Compromised Peter Obi has sounded the alarm over fresh figures from the World Bank showing that ₦34.44 trillion, about 41 percent of Nigeria’s total federation revenue, was not remitted to the Federation Account over a three-year period. The data indicates that Nigeria generated close to ₦84 trillion within the same timeframe, but a significant portion was deducted before distribution to the three tiers of government. Reacting to the development, Obi described the situation as “institutionalised corruption”, arguing that the scale of the discrepancy goes beyond routine fiscal adjustments. He noted that the missing amount is nearly equivalent to the combined capital expenditure in the 2024 and 2025 budgets, raising concerns about how public resources are managed. He drew comparisons to the Okigbo Panel, which uncovered $12.4 billion in unaccounted oil revenue in 1994, but pointed out that the current figures are even larger, yet have not triggered similar national outrage. According to the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update, federation revenue rose from ₦17.08 trillion in 2023 to ₦37.44 trillion in 2025, bringing the total to about ₦84 trillion over three years. However, deductions also increased sharply, reaching ₦14.93 trillion in 2025 alone and totaling over ₦34 trillion before funds were shared. Obi said these deductions help explain why higher revenues have not translated into visible improvements in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and power. There has been no official response from the Federal Government as of the time of this report.

🇳🇬 Peter Obi: "Those Who Fought for Democracy Are Now Destroying It” Peter Obi has issued a firm and direct statement on the state of Nigeria’s democracy, declaring that Nigerians must actively resist efforts to undermine it. In his statement, Obi confirmed that he joined fellow Nigerians and leaders in a peaceful “Save Democracy” protest, describing it as both a defense of democratic values and a reflection of how far the nation has declined. He stated that Nigeria’s democracy is being deliberately suffocated by those who once claimed to defend it, but are now working to silence opposition and weaken democratic institutions. Obi made it clear that such actions will be judged harshly by history, insisting that Nigerians will not remain silent, will not be intimidated, and will not surrender the future of the country. He affirmed that the will of the people must prevail stronger, louder, and impossible to suppress, reiterating his position that A New Nigeria is Possible.
