Last week, we celebrated incredible student growth at the Caring and Safe Schools luncheon. I am proud of every student we recognized for their tenacity. Your futures are full of possibility, and your peers, educators, and mentors are here to support your continued achievement.

During my visit to Summit Heights Public School, I saw innovative examples of math exercises and peer-to-peer learning. Students, staff, families, and partners have come together to create a culture where student confidence and leadership can thrive.

The Mackenzie Science and Engineering Olympics sparked curiosity, collaboration, and healthy competition. Thank you to the William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute Science Club for organizing this incredible day of STEM learning for middle school students.

Seeing the Etobicoke School of the Arts' production of Mamma Mia with my daughter was the highlight of my week. I was blown away by the talent and dedication of the incredible cast, band, and production team. This night was a true celebration of student excellence in the arts.

Ahead of International Women’s Day, I joined the Possibilities Conference at Second Street Junior Middle School. Thank you to the organizers and partners for giving these young women knowledge about engineering and leadership pathways, as well as the confidence to pursue them.

At DA Morrison Middle School, I saw a strong focus on French and math learning, and an engaging entrepreneurship assignment that sharpened design and marketing skills. The “Take What You Need & Give What You Can” board reflected student leadership and a caring school community.

All TDSB schools and administrative sites will be open on Tuesday, January 27. Snow cleanup is ongoing following the weekend storm, and conditions may vary at schools and sites. Families and staff are encouraged to allow extra travel time, and school bus delays are possible as street plowing continues.

All TDSB schools, sites and administrative buildings (including Child Care centres) will be closed to students and most staff on Monday, January 26, due to ongoing snow removal and a Major Snow Storm Condition and Significant Weather Event declared by the City of Toronto.
