What can a generation that marched in the streets teach a generation that mobilises on screens? Dr. Sabina Anokye Mensah and Vanessa Donkor sat down for an intergenerational conversation that blends decades of experience with fresh perspectives. Dr Sabina shares stories and hard-won lessons from her era, while Vanessa reflects on what it means to navigate womanhood in a world her predecessors helped shape but couldn't have predicted. They both explored what has changed, what remains, and how women continue to push boundaries,  54 from societal expectations to technology's role in activism. This isn't just a conversation. It's a bridge between the past and the present, proof that the lessons from one generation can still light the way for the next. A heartfelt thank you to the @FordFoundation for supporting the Rooted & Woven Retreat and helping amplify women’s stories, insights, and leadership. As the crescent moon ushers in Eid al-Fitr, we celebrate more than the close of a fast. We celebrate resilience, generosity, and the quiet strength it takes to keep showing up with faith and kindness. At TechHer, we are reminded that community is at the heart of everything we do. This season reflects the values we hold close: compassion, equity, and showing up for one another, both online and offline. As we work to make digital spaces safer and more inclusive, we celebrate the power of collective care and shared humanity. May this season fill your home with peace, your heart with gratitude, and your days with renewed hope.
Eid Mubarak to you and yours.🌙

700k to chat? That's how Sextortion begins. A stranger slides into your DMs with the easiest way to cash out online, but here's what they don't tell you: Those conversations become screenshots. Those screenshots become threats. And suddenly, "chatting for cash" turns into your worst digital nightmare. It's happening to more people than you think, and most are too ashamed to speak up. If this has happened to you or someone you know, you're NOT alone, and it's NOT your fault. Get help now at kuramng.org Share this because the person who needs to see it won't ask for help, but they'll see your post. #Sextortion #OnlineSafety #ProtectYourself #CyberCrime #KuramNG #StaySafeOnline #InternetSafety #revengeporn

Just as social etiquette guides how we relate with people in physical spaces, internet etiquette guides how we should behave when interacting in the digital space. The digital space should help us connect, interact, and learn, not become a platform where people are stripped of their dignity. Simple online etiquette, such as respecting others in conversations, being mindful of comments, avoiding harmful content, and not body-shaming, should be habits we all cultivate. A safer digital space begins with how we choose to treat others online. @RoLACNG @HerStoryOSNG @TechHerNG @TechSocietal @naptipnigeria #EndGBV #OnlineGBV #EndOnlineAbuse #WomenSafety

Women and girls around the world continue to show what’s possible when they are given the space, support, and opportunity to thrive. From classrooms to boardrooms, from communities to digital spaces, their ideas, leadership, and resilience are shaping a better future for everyone. Today is a moment to celebrate their achievements, amplify their voices, and recommit to building a world where every woman and girl can reach her full potential. At TechHer, we believe that the digital world should be a place where women and girls feel safe, confident, and empowered to participate fully. Technology is shaping how we learn, work, connect, and express ourselves, and it’s important that women and girls are not only included in these spaces, but are also equipped to lead and influence them. This year’s International Women’s Day theme: Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls is a powerful reminder that real progress requires intention. It calls on all of us to ensure that women and girls everywhere have access to the rights, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive, both offline and online. We remain committed to building a future where women and girls are not just navigating technology, but leading innovation, influencing digital spaces, and driving meaningful change in their communities and beyond. Happy International Women’s Day to the incredible women and girls who inspire progress every single day. 💜 #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026 #RightsJusticeAction #WomenInTech #DigitalRights #TechHer

Every budget decision has real consequences for Nigerian women. But limited access, representation, and technical knowledge still keep many of us out of the policy rooms where it matters most. And too often, our advocacy is dismissed as noise that lives only online. For International Women’s Day, the women at @BudgITng are rewriting that script. If you are a young woman ready to influence the decisions that affect your life and your community, this is your chance to join the Women for Women Budget & Policy Lab by BudgIT. It’s a full day, hands-on training where you’ll gain practical skills in analyzing budgets, understanding policies, and engaging in civic processes. You’ll understand how budget decisions are made, why they matter, and how your voice can create real change. By the end of the training, you’ll leave informed, empowered, and ready to step into conversations that shape the lives of Nigerian women and the communities you care about. 📝 Apply now: forms.gle/Crn7w876cqav6V… Deadline: Wednesday, March 4, 2026 #GetInvolved #InternationalWomensDay2026 #IWD2026

What triggers digital rights abuse in Nigeria? Dataphyte asked people who use the internet for work and social interaction, many of whom have experienced digital rights abuse themselves or through close contacts. Here’s what they told us: -> 47% experienced abuse for commenting on social issues -> 37% for engaging in political discussions online -> 36% for sharing content on social issues and political activism Do you want to read more about the findings from the report? We’re so sorry you’re experiencing this. Sharing or threatening to share someone’s photo with degrading, defamatory commentary is online abuse. This is not your fault. Please document everything (screenshots, links, timestamps) and report the content on the platform. You can also report confidentially via kuramng.org for FREE psychosocial and legal support to assist with takedown, safety steps, and next actions. You deserve safety and dignity online.

Millions of women and girls face technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) each year. From harassment and blackmail to image-based abuse, surveillance, and coordinated online attacks. As digital access grows, so does digital harm. Digital spaces must be safe, rights-respecting, and accountable. On 4-5 March 2026, the Global Symposium on TFGBV, co-hosted by @UNFPA, Global Affairs Canada, and the Association for Progressive Communications, will convene governments, civil society, researchers, and tech companies to move from awareness to coordinated, survivor-centred action. We're proud that our Executive Director, Chioma Agwuegbo @ChiomaChuka, served on this year's Advisory Board that put this together, reflecting our commitment to shaping global action. At TechHer, we believe in tackling TFGBV as a structural issue rooted in platform design, weak enforcement, policy gaps, and unequal digital literacy. So if you're working on digital rights, gender justice, platform accountability, or online safety, register to attend:: shorturl.at/c2dPd

According to the 2024 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey, most survivors of physical or sexual violence in Nigeria have never sought help or confided in anyone. This trend extends to survivors of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) as well. A variety of factors contribute to this persistent silence, including fear of stigma, lack of awareness about available support services, and concerns about further victimisation. Reporting isn't always easy, but it's a powerful step toward change. Speak up, your voice matters. #digitalright #TFGBV #SBGV @HerStoryOSNG @TechHerNG #EndGBV #OnlineGBV #EndOnlineAbuse #WomenSafety
