WATCH: Charlie Kirk was murdered at a @TPUSA campus event, triggering a national reckoning over free speech and political violence. So where do we go from here? Featuring powerful firsthand accounts from the students and staff there that day, this is “1AX: Political Violence.”

The Afroman Trial. -Cops raid Afromans house for bullshit reasons. -Steal money, break his door, fuck his house up. -No criminality found whatsoever, no charges at all pressed on Afroman. -Afroman spends the next 3 years making songs that make fun of all the officers involved by name, even using footage of the raid from his own CCTV cameras. -Songs had titles like "Randy Walters is a son of a bitch" and "Lick Em Low Lisa" accusing one of the officers of being a lesbian and sleeping with the other officers wives. -During the raid one officer looked like he was about to eat some lemon pound cake sitting on Afromans counter, Afroman made a whole album calling the officer fat. -The cops get mad and file a lawsuit for defamation. -Afroman turns up to court in a whole American flag suit. -Officers performatively mald and cry while listening to the songs really trying to oversell how badly the songs upset them. -One officer was suing because Afroman made a whole song about him saying he was fucking the officers wife. When the officer was asked if Afroman was really fucking his wife, he said "I don't know". Nuking his own case and establishing that there is a non-zero chance that Afroman might actually be fucking his wife. -As his only witness for the trial, Afroman brought a deputies EX FUCKING WIFE. -The jury ruled completely in favour of Afroman. This entire thing has been a great win for free speech and absolutely fucking hilarious.

NYT on the Dept of Justice's chilling NSPM-7 push: "It is unusual for agents to investigate particular groups or people rather than specific crimes." For good reason. "Show me the man and I'll show you the crime" is for dictatorships, not a free country. nytimes.com/2026/03/19/us/…

.@JohnHMcWhorter is coming to Soapbox, FIRE's free speech conference. The linguist, NYT columnist, and best-selling author has spent decades exploring how language and politics shape the way we speak, and what that means for free expression today.

CUA promises students the freedom to discuss ideas, but making them host speakers they oppose in the name of “balance” breaks that commitment. FIRE demands @CatholicUniv approve SSI’s event and affirm that all student groups can host speakers they choose. fire.org/cases/catholic…

To make matters worse, other groups have hosted guests — from Democratic officials to pro-life activists — without being forced to include opposing speakers. So why is the Students Supporting Israel’s event being treated differently?

Catholic University denied a student group’s event on antisemitism for not including speakers on “both sides” of the issue. Forcing a group to host a speaker they oppose is textbook compelled speech, and FIRE is pushing back.

TAKE ACTION: The First Amendment protects the right to speak your mind on public streets and sidewalks. FIRE and NYCLU are urging lawmakers to stop these misguided proposals. Tell New York officials to defend New Yorkers’ right to protest. ⬇️ fire.org/get-involved/t…

The proposals create “buffer zones” restricting public demonstrations within 25 feet of streets and sidewalks touching houses of worship and other sites. Parades, political protests, labor rallies, and other demonstrations could be criminalized if they occur within these zones.

The Empire State has always been a home for protest — until now. Proposals being debated in Albany would criminalize peaceful protests at thousands of locations across the state. New Yorkers could face up to 364 days in jail for a first offense.

A spine is a terrible thing to waste. Threatening broadcasters for reporting the news because the president dislikes their coverage undermines the First Amendment. The FCC has no authority to punish broadcasters doing their jobs. 🎙️: FIRE’s Bob Corn-Revere 📺: @jaketapper
FIRE@TheFIREorg

Brendan Carr’s authoritarian warning — that networks risk their broadcasting licenses for Iran war reporting that the government doesn’t like — is outrageous. When the government demands the press become a state mouthpiece under the threat of punishment, something has gone very wrong. In 2019, Carr said: “Should the government censor speech it doesn’t like? Of course not. The FCC does not have a roving mandate to police speech in the name of the ‘public interest.’” But today, Carr cites the “public interest” to blatantly threaten news outlets because the president doesn’t like their reporting. Again and again, Carr’s tenure as FCC chairman has been marked by his shameless willingness to bully and threaten our free press. But even by Carr’s standards, today’s hypocrisy is shocking — and dangerous. The American people demand uncensored news about the men and women serving in our armed forces. Our right to a free press is one of the core American freedoms those in uniform have sworn to support and defend. It is long past time for our government officials to remember their own oaths to uphold the Constitution — starting with the First Amendment.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is bullying the press again at the president’s bidding. The American people deserve coverage of military operations free from government censorship. Letting any official dictate “truth” is a constitutional hazard. 📰: @unherd 🖊️: @aaronterr1

This is the right decision. While flag burning as a form of protest continues to spark heated debate across the country, it is symbolic speech constitutionally protected by the First Amendment.
