Marcus Melander has three of his big guns - Meshuggah, Super Chapter and Apex - entered to qualify on Friday afternoon @TheMeadowlands. 2024 Horse of the Year Twin B Joe Fresh is also slated to go again.

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us as the long wait for the next crop of freshmen pacers and trotters to perform is at an end, with baby races getting underway across the continent. At 9:00 am on Saturday, June 6th, The Meadowlands will premiere the 2026 edition of Breakfast With The Babies, featuring 2-year-olds, generously sponsored this year by our friends of the Tactical Landing Syndicate, Ecurie D Syndicate, and Karl Syndicate, standing at Southwind Farms of New Jersey. The dates for the Baby races will be the following, but are subject to change due to conflicts at MetLife Stadium with the World Cup: -Saturday, June 6that 9:00 am. -Friday, June 12th at 9:00 am. -Saturday, June 20th at 9:00 am. -Friday, June 26th at 9:00 am. There will be a breakfast bounty of pastries and beverages, along with programs for the day available in Trotters. It’s all free and fun, and everyone is invited to attend. As always, the races will be live-streamed on The Meadowlands website, and an announcer will be on hand to call the action.

Beginning next week (Monday, May 25), the Meadowlands will be going back to a double draw for Friday and Saturday. Box closes at 9 a.m. on Monday. Qualifiers will remain the same (declare in by Wednesday 10 a.m.). Scratch time: Wednesday for Friday – 10 a.m.; Thursday for Saturday – 10 a.m.

This Saturday, May 23, is the fifth Meadowlands Racetrack handicapping contest of the year. The top two finishers in the contest qualify for the invite-only $10,000 tournament in December. The $1,000 prize pool will be split among the top four finishers. Leading Lady, by Walner and bred by Marvin & Lynn Katz with Al Libfeld, rallied past Isabella Bi late to win her Garden State division for 3YO filly trotters @TheMeadowlands in 1:53 1/5 for Matt Kakaley and @NancyTakter. Diamond Bay finished third.

American Power, by Walner and bred by Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld, won his Garden State split for 3YO male trotters @TheMeadowlands from first-up in 1:52 3/5 for @DunnDexterHR and @MarcusMMelander over pocket-sitter Gabes Luck and pace-setter Southwind Alamo.

7YO Muscle Hill stallion Periculum rallied off a second-over trip to win the G3 $150,100 Arthur J. Cutler Memorial for older trotters @TheMeadowlands in 1:49 4/5 for @scottzeron and @MarcusMMelander. Aetos Kronos was second and French Wine finished third.

Practical Man, by Tactical Landing and bred by Fashion Farms, rallied up the inside in the lane from the pocket to win his Garden State split for 3YO C&G trotters @TheMeadowlands in 1:53 4/5 for @stratton_racing and Tom Fanning. Never Say Die was second and Ice Fall took third.
