Engaged with UN-Habitat, the World Bank and international partners at #WUF13 in Baku, held under the theme “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,” on the Maldives’ priorities and challenges in climate adaptation, housing and sustainable urban development. Also had the pleasure of holding a bilateral meeting with Ms. Anacláudia Rossbach, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat. During the discussions, I highlighted the need for climate adaptation financing mechanisms to become more accessible, responsive and available at the scale required by vulnerable nations. I also advocated for recognising voluntary population consolidation as a climate adaptation measure, and housing as essential resilience infrastructure for Small Island Developing States.

I warmly welcome the United Kingdom’s decision to suspend tariffs on tuna imports effective 20th May 2026. This important development will support British consumers while delivering meaningful benefits to the Maldives’ fisheries sector, strengthening fishermen’s incomes, supporting island livelihoods, and expanding opportunities for sustainably caught Maldivian tuna in the UK market. The Maldives is globally recognised for its world-leading pole-and-line tuna industry and its commitment to responsible and sustainable fishing practices. This milestone reflects the close partnership between the Maldives and the UK and the importance both countries place on sustainable trade and economic resilience. I thank the UK Government and all partners who contributed to this positive step forward for our fishermen and our economy. 🇲🇻🇬🇧

President Dr @MMuizzu inspects the progress of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu development project. During this visit, the President was briefed on the developmental progress by the MTCC Managing Director, DCP (Retd) Ahmed Saudee. The redevelopment project includes resurfacing Boduthakurufaanu Magu with asphalt and expanding sections of the road spanning from Izzudheen Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.

Deepest condolences to President Sergio Mattarella and the people of Italy following the tragic diving incident in Vaavu Atoll, Maldives yesterday. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased Italian, the missing four Italians and everyone affected. The search for the 4 remaining missing divers remains our highest priority, and the Government of the Maldives appreciates the support from the Government of Italy to the ongoing extensive recovery operation. @Quirinale

ސައްޙަކަން ކަށަވަރު ކުރެވިފައިވާ އެކްޓިވް ވޯކްޕަރމިޓުގައި މިވަގުތު ރާއްޖޭގައި ޤާއިމުވެތިބެގެން މަސައްކަތް ކުރަމުންދާ ބިދޭސީ މަސައްކަތްތެރިންގެ ތެރެއިން 98 އިންސައްތަ މީހުން ބަޔޯމެޓްރިކަލީ ކާކުކަން ދެނެގަނެވޭނެ ގޮތަށް 10 އިނގިލީގެ ނިޝާނާއި ސާފު ފޮޓޯ ވަނީ ނަގާ ނިމިފައި. (މި އަދަދު 17 ނޮވެމްބަރު 2023 ގައި ހުރީ އެންމެ 13 އިން ސައްތައިގައި.) ގަވާއިދާ ޚިލާފަށް ރާއްޖޭގައި އުޅެމުންދާ ބިދޭސީންގެ މައްސަލައަށް ދާއިމީ ހައްލެއް ގެނައުމަށް ކުރެވޭ މިމަސައްކަތުގައި ކުރިއަށް އޮތް 6 މަސް ދުވަހު ކުރެވޭނެ މަސައްކަތަކީ ބާކީ ތިބި މީހުން ހޯދާ ރާއްޖެއިން ޑިޕޯޓުކުރުމުގެ ޚާއްސަ މަސައްކަތްތައް.

As I conclude a successful State Visit to Sri Lanka, I depart with renewed resolve to further strengthen the close and longstanding relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. I thank the Government and people of Sri Lanka for the warm hospitality and friendship extended to me, my wife and delegation. I am encouraged by the productive discussions held with Your Excellency, as well as Prime Minister @Dr_HariniA, on a myriad of issues, and look forward to working together to implement our shared commitments into meaningful outcomes, for the mutual benefit and prosperity of our two nations. Long live the 🇲🇻-🇱🇰 Friendship. Thank you Sri Lanka.

Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Abdulla Muththalib and the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, H.E. G. Balasubramanian, joined a site visit to the Greater Malé Connectivity Project today to review ongoing progress and implementation. They were accompanied by senior officials from the Government of India, the Government of Maldives, contractor Afcons, and consultant Arup. During the visit, officials were briefed on key milestones achieved to date and the upcoming phases of work. Discussions also focused on the importance of strengthened coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the project. The project continues to stand as a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity across the Greater Malé region.
