Spent the evening with Kiwanis Eastern Ottawa at their public info session and it was a really strong conversation about what’s happening across our city. This is a group that does a lot behind the scenes, especially supporting those who need it most, and it shows. We had a great discussion and started mapping out more community-inclusive events that bring people together and strengthen connections across Ottawa. Good to see Council colleague Jeff Leiper stop by as well, alongside a strong focus on the important work Kiwanis continues to lead in our community. Really encouraging to see the turnout and the energy in the room. C’est un groupe qui accomplit énormément de travail en coulisses, notamment pour soutenir les personnes qui en ont le plus besoin, et ça se voit. Nous avons eu de très bons échanges et commencé à réfléchir à de nouvelles initiatives inclusives qui rassemblent les gens et renforcent les liens à travers Ottawa. Content de voir mon collègue du Conseil Jeff Leiper être présent également, tout en gardant le cap sur l’important travail que Kiwanis poursuit dans notre communauté. HELP OUT. At the Gloucester Hockey Association Finals this weekend, we are helping our friends at @EORCOttawa to collect food donations. We challenge our fellow associations to provide more donations than we will make. There will be a box for each of us. This is going to be fun.

ELECTRIC BUS UPDATE Here’s where things stand right now. We’re currently at 90 electric buses in service, up from 48 in the last update. That’s an increase of 42 buses. Real progress, but we should be closer to 124 buses by now. That gap matters. It impacts service, reliability, and how quickly we can respond when things go wrong. At committee today, I pushed hard to get a clear number on the diesel bus fleet. Right now, that number still isn’t being shared. That’s a problem. Electric buses are only part of the picture. Diesel buses are still carrying a significant portion of the system, especially when electric buses are down or unavailable. Without that number, we don’t have a full understanding of our capacity. We need both numbers. We need transparency. And most importantly, we need enough buses on the road to actually deliver reliable service. I’ll keep pushing until we get answers, and until the system is where it needs to be.

Standing up against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, and transphobia isn’t just about one day, it’s about how we show up for each other, in our schools, workplaces, and across our city. Kindness isn’t complicated, but it makes a real difference. #InternationalDayOfPink Aujourd’hui, c’est la Journée internationale du rose. 💗 C’est un rappel que le type de communauté que nous bâtissons chaque jour compte. Une communauté où chacun se sent en sécurité, respecté et inclus, peu importe qui il est. S’opposer à l’intimidation, à la discrimination, à l’homophobie et à la transphobie, ce n’est pas qu’une question d’une journée, c’est une façon d’agir au quotidien, dans nos écoles, nos milieux de travail et partout dans notre ville. La bienveillance, ce n’est pas compliqué, mais ça change tout.

This morning’s appreciation breakfast at City Hall was a well-deserved moment to recognize the volunteers behind the Ottawa Winter Trail Network. Thank you to Council colleague @tm_kavanagh for hosting and continuing to champion this work. These trails don’t maintain themselves. They rely on people who show up early, stay late, and put in the work to keep them safe, accessible, and enjoyable all winter long. That kind of commitment matters. I’ve always been a strong supporter of Heritage Ski East, and seeing the broader network come together really highlights the impact of volunteer-driven outdoor spaces across our city. A sincere thank you to everyone who makes winter in Ottawa something people can get out and enjoy. - Le déjeuner de reconnaissance tenu ce matin à l’hôtel de ville était un moment bien mérité pour souligner le travail des bénévoles du Ottawa Winter Trail Network. Merci à ma collègue au Conseil Theresa Kavanagh pour l’organisation de cet événement et pour son engagement constant envers ce réseau. Ces sentiers ne s’entretiennent pas seuls. Ils reposent sur des bénévoles qui donnent de leur temps, souvent dans des conditions difficiles, pour les garder accessibles et sécuritaires tout au long de l’hiver. Cet engagement fait toute la différence. J’ai toujours été un fier appui de Heritage Ski East, et voir l’ensemble du réseau réuni rappelle à quel point ces espaces sont importants pour notre communauté. Un grand merci à toutes celles et ceux qui contribuent à faire de l’hiver à Ottawa une saison dont on peut pleinement profiter.
