Official Opening of the new Law and Family Mediation Centre 👩‍⚖️⚖️ It was fantastic to see the new Law and Family Mediation Centre at Woodquay Court, Galway City officially opened recently by Minister for Justice, Jim O Callaghan! @TOBINengineers Health and Safety and Technical Advisory Division (HSTA); together with the wider TOBIN team, Vincent Hannon | Architecture + Urbanism, O'Neill & Co Chartered Surveyors & Auctioneers Ltd and MALONE Group; provided Consultancy Services on this project at Woodquay Court in Galway for our client, The Legal Aid Board. It was also a pleasure to work with OCC Construction, who carried out the works. On Wednesday Brian Gallagher, Technical Director here at @TOBINengineers, gave a presentation to Engineers Ireland - West Region at Atlantic Technological University Galway on Sustainability in the Water Sector. Brian’s lecture focused on energy in the water sector globally and in Ireland, and covered topics such as the decarbonisation of Ireland’s electricity, Uisce Éireann Irish Water's Sustainability and Energy Policies, Whole Lifecycle Carbon Assessment (LCA) and energy recovery at wastewater treatment plants. He also outlined work undertaken by TOBIN on the Water Treatment Plant and the Raw Water Intake & Pumping Station for the Water Supply Project – Eastern and Midlands Region on behalf of @IrishWater. Other speakers on the night covered Local Authority Climate Action Plans and Sustainability in Transportation. Every day, we recognise and champion the importance of diversity in STEM, and actively encourage students to pursue careers in science. Science is not just a subject - it’s a vital part of everyday conversations. These are conversations that women and girls should feel empowered and confident to take part in. We spoke with Siobhan Tinnelly, Director of our Environment & Planning division, about why now, more than ever, we must ensure that women have the opportunities and encouragement needed to thrive in STEM: “With AI appearing in nearly every aspect of our lives, it’s more important than ever that we ground our conversations in scientific evidence. Last week, Brian Gallagher and Robert Gardiner from @TOBINengineers Water & Utilities Division attended a two-day Oral Hearing Expert Witness training course. The training was delivered on behalf of @IrishWater by LaTouche Training, a firm of solicitors and barristers specialising in legal and witness skills training for engineers. The hands-on course included the preparation and presentation of a Brief of Evidence for a sample project, followed by cross-examination by a solicitor, with all sessions video recorded. We were delighted to attend the handover of the new Westport Coast Guard Station, a project where @TOBINengineers proudly provided Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) services for the @opwireland. Located at Westport Harbour, Co. Mayo, the development delivers a modern, purpose-built facility to support @IrishCoastGuard rescue operations in the region. The project comprises a two-storey accommodation block, along with a single-storey boathouse and vehicle store.
