Elon Musk killing himself on 4/20 would make him the most epic meme ever 😂 no way he does it tho. He’ll never be one of the greats.

This is such an illiterate reading of LOTR it's actually causing me pain. It is both clever and transgressive, and it DOES have LOTS of moral shades of grey. The entire ethos of the trilogy is "anybody can be evil." Good of the individual actually FAILS in the end.
Old Hollow Tree@OldHollowTree

One of the many reasons why so many love the Lord of the Rings trilogy is that it is straightforward, earnest. It is not clever or transgressive. There is a clear evil, a clear good. Yet it remains interesting. You do not need moral shades of gray in your story. Simplify.

Insane to me that the Hollywood Reporter, of all places, is commenting on this with any sort of moral clarity while WaPo, NBC, CNN, NYT, etc are actively avoiding any sort of coverage is pathetic. American Journalism is so washed

Everybody learns, from a pretty young age, that the Nazis were unfathomably evil, and they performed a “Nazi salute,” and this is something you don’t copy in your everyday life: bit.ly/4gdjnQe

Marvel rivals got people actually reading comics. My local store was completely cleaned out for the first time since I started going there. Love to see it

People been talking about the rivalry between Reed and Namor since Reed just got added to the game but Namor and T'Challa are a lot more interesting imo

You've got the so called gunn gooners attacking the criticism with the most ridiculous defenses, citing Scooby doo and shit as feminist writing, fucking absurd we can also acknowledge that gunn has often made the women in his stories secondary in the past, and his juvenile

I don't think that's true... tbh i feel like it's a very bad faith discourse on both sides One side is completely misrepresenting gunn's writing on the whole, that he does write these characters with some sincerity and wants to deliver well rounded heroic women And on the other
Wrong@MixedOfTheNight

@offmodescarab There's no debate lol One side is very clearly wrong.

People use the word ‘objectively’ with such confidence. A story not being to your taste is not “objective”. You having a bias against particular modes of storytelling or storytelling archetypes is not “objective”. Being embarrassed to admit you like the movie is not “objective”.

it’s been distressing to see so many get incredibly angry and entitled towards Gunn and/or Reeves with very little real information, to the extent of now demanding info about Reeves’ personal life be made public. THE BATMAN is just a movie. I honestly hoped we were past all this

Film Twitter always bemoans the lack of creativity in Hollywood and superhero fatigue and yet when we finally get a truly original piece of blockbuster cinema like Kraven The Hunter you let it flop. Don’t blame me when studios stop funding passion projects like this
DiscussingFilm@DiscussingFilm

‘KRAVEN THE HUNTER’ earns $4.7M in its domestic opening day, one of the lowest openings ever for a comic book movie. Read our review: bit.ly/KravenDF
