Thurrock Council has money. Lots of it, apparently, enough to pay several executives more than £250,000 a year. But when it comes to the caretakers, the workers who look after resident housing? Suddenly there's nothing left. Our members are facing reorganisation and being told their contributions don't count. This is a council that has made its values crystal clear. BMA staff have announced strike dates of 27-28 March and 6-7 April, the latter coinciding with the start of the resident doctors’ strike, after the BMA offered its own staff a 2.75% pay rise. That’s lower than the 3.5% recommended for resident doctors, which the BMA itself described as a ‘crushing blow.’ 2.75%, presumably also a crushing blow, per the BMA.
