🚨Alleged Land Grab by TDC Managing Director Raises Alarms Over Abuse of Power and Military Intimidation in Ghana A deeply troubling case involving the alleged unlawful seizure of private property by the Managing Director of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) – Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, with the support of armed military personnel, has raised urgent concerns about abuse of power, land rights violations, and the safety of private citizens in Ghana. According to documents and sources familiar with the matter, a law-abiding homeowner in Tema Community 25 lawfully purchased Property Nos. 3 & 4/HOS-25 together with an adjoining land from the TDC in 2010, paying in full with receipts and official documents. The situation took a disturbing turn when armed soldiers, allegedly acting under the direction and with the support of the TDC boss entered the premises and began developing the property without notice or consent. This aggressive incursion has left the rightful homeowner displaced, unable to access or reside in the property he legally acquired and had peacefully occupied for years. Sources close to the homeowner report that he now lives in fear for his life, citing the intimidating presence of uniformed military personnel on his property. He has been effectively barred from entering his own home, and his physical safety has become a matter of serious concern. It has also been alleged that the Managing Director is overseeing the construction of building project for his personal benefit and that of his cronies. He has reportedly been seen on-site personally supervising the development which is often under the cover of night. Photographic, video, and other supporting evidence are said to be available and may be released at the appropriate time. The homeowner, through legal counsel, has filed formal complaints with the Director of Intelligence and the Office of the Special Prosecutor, and has initiated legal action against the TDC and the Managing Director. The case is currently before the court. Despite repeated attempts to solicit a response, the TDC has not issued any public statement regarding the allegations. The lack of transparency has only heightened public concern over the role of state agencies in protecting or undermining the rights of private citizens. This case highlights broader issues of land administration and governance in Ghana, particularly the disturbing use of military force in civil property disputes. Legal and civil society observers warn that such actions, if left unchecked, could severely erode public confidence in state institutions and Ghana’s commitment to the rule of law. As the legal battle unfolds, the nation watches closely. At stake is not only the future of one homeowner but the fundamental principle that every citizen deserves protection from arbitrary and unlawful acts, no matter how powerful the individuals involved may be. This is a developing story and more shall be released soon.
