Disagree, IRGC isn't Iran it's the active shooter holding Iranians hostage, and since the best negotiation with terrorists begins with control of all surroundings (and ends with applied pressure inwards), talking with the IRGC is USEFUL for holding the peg but has no intrinsic deal-making value.

Shooting at a mass shooter makes people more unsafe then not shooting at the shooter? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 @grok what happens to odds of survival in a public shooter situation when one person shooting at everybody either a) gets shot, or b) is forced to direct all bullets in the direction of one person?

We can't even if we could. $1.9T / year worth of USD debt used as collateral to continually refinance world-wide debt probably barely enough to keep the liquidity conveyor belt running. If we balance now everyone else's rates go up making USD stronger global liquidity weak. Better play may be 5% growth plus capitalization of the bottom half of the K (phuck FICA, anyone under 45 needs assets and catastrophic coverage "SS/Medicare" only), recreate healthcare on the long end (deflates quicker then shit but slow enough to adapt if/when everything out of pocket & catastrophic coverage only), and beat socialism with actual every member of society capitalism. Also, dumb rules are underrated contributors to inflation. If all Congress did was spend their asses off getting rid of dumb laws and stupid rules (and/or the incentives for stupid to be propogated perpetually), I bet the budget deficit would become irrelevant (probably by growth, but definitely by correction of a huuuge disconnect with the problem of time blocks/time wasting that occurs in adhering to counter -productive retardery). 90% of every rule in place was made by well meaning retards, so clearly, we're qualified to change them.

@biancoresearch All this hooha about rates & the FED...Why not just balance the budget or at least come up with some half-credible long-term plan to achieve that goal....Then the whole rates & inflation discussion would solve itself...

I get the idea that there might be some version of Yield Curve Control (YCC**) or other government intervention to hold down interest rates. But remember, what's freaking the market is inflation. If the Fed and/or Treasury does anything to suppress interest rates that is perceived as inflationary, such as expanding the balance sheet, not cutting interest rates when it is expected, shortening duration, or outright bond buying, which is perceived as stimulative. The market will take this as potentially creating more inflation, and the result will be even higher interest rates. What the market wants to bring yields down is a commitment to getting inflation under control. You want mortgage rates down; HIKE(!) the funds rate. -- ** A number of people are arguing for YCC. They should know it has a perfect track record... of never working! This is the ultimate definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Otavio (Tavi) Costa@TaviCosta

It’s all fun and games until mortgage rates start surging. They’re now approaching 7%. You see what’s happening with the US government stepping in to support the Japanese yen? The Treasury market is next. tavicosta.substack.com/p/the-next-int…

@biancoresearch @grok, What's the math on every quarter point FFR increase in terms of contribution to increase in national debt (presume $2 trillion deficit per year). Is it possible for the monetary authority to get inflation under control in a new era of fiscal dominance?

@colbyLsmith @tomkeene Not sure how less transparency is helpful. If Warsh reduces the number of meetings from 8 to 6 (or even 4), there’ll be times when there’s a need for interim rate adjustments. How’s the Fed going to handle that communication?

SCOOP: Warsh is considering reducing the number of policy meetings the Fed holds each year. He raised the idea at this week's meeting, according to four people with knowledge of the situation. He left the impression that a revised schedule could be decided on before the next meeting in mid-September, even if the changes would not be carried out until later. Warsh spoke about the legal authorities the Fed must abide by regarding the minimum number of meetings it needs to hold in a year and asked officials to reach out to him with their thoughts, the people said

Hello
Hello@abidkayani·
I am not convinced either your theory. I second Newton. There is gravity. My source is my believe and this is Quran. Book of God. Allah says Surah Al-Anbiya [21:33]: "And He is the One Who created the day and the night, the sun and the moon—each travelling in an orbit (falak), floating (yasbahun)." [1, 2] Though it is clear English but still translation is everything is travelling and travelling in an orbit. In another chapter Allah says Surah Ya-Sin [36:40]: States that the sun is not permitted to catch up to the moon, nor does the night outpace the day, with each floating in its designated orbit. This strengthens the gravity existence. End of discussion.

The Curious Tales@thecurioustales·
Newton's theory of gravity was wrong. We just kept teaching it anyway. Almost everyone pictures gravity the way Newton described it 340 years ago. The Sun sits in the center. Invisible strings of force reach out across space and pull the planets inward, like a cosmic game of tetherball. The planets want to fly off in a straight line, but the Sun keeps yanking them back, and the balance between those two forces traces out an orbit. That picture is beautiful, it's useful, and it's wrong. Einstein demolished it in 1915 and replaced it with something far stranger. There are no strings. There is no pulling. The Sun is not reaching out and grabbing anything. What the Sun actually does is bend the shape of space and time around it. Think of spacetime as a fabric, and mass as a weight resting on that fabric. The Sun is so massive it creates an enormous dent, a deep curved valley in the geometry of reality itself. The planets aren't being pulled toward the Sun. They're rolling along the curves of that valley, following the natural contour of bent space. A planet in orbit is actually traveling in a straight line. From its own perspective, it feels no force at all. It's coasting freely through space, moving in the straightest possible path available to it. The path just happens to be curved, because the space it's moving through is curved. The Sun didn't bend the planet's motion. The Sun bent the ruler you'd use to measure "straight." People assume there's "no gravity" in orbit, but that's false. Gravity at the altitude of the space station is nearly as strong as it is on the ground. Astronauts float because they, and their entire spacecraft, are in continuous free fall around the planet, following the curve of spacetime together. Falling and orbiting are the same thing. An orbit is just falling so fast sideways that you keep missing the ground. Now hold onto that idea, because it leads somewhere your mind will resist. Newton believed gravity was instantaneous. If the Sun vanished right now, he assumed Earth would fly off immediately. Einstein proved that's impossible. Gravity is not instant. Changes in gravity travel at exactly the speed of light. If the Sun disappeared this second, Earth would keep orbiting the empty space where it used to be for eight full minutes, because that's how long it takes the information that the Sun is gone to ripple across 93 million miles of spacetime. We would keep circling a ghost. We would feel the warmth of light that no longer has a source, and we would trace loyal circles around a gravity well that no longer exists, and we would have no way of knowing anything had changed until the darkness and the drift arrived together. There's a detail even deeper than that, and it's the detail that made Einstein's theory undeniable. For centuries, astronomers noticed that the planet Mercury's orbit was misbehaving. Its closest point to the Sun kept shifting, rotating slightly with every pass, an amount Newton's equations could not fully explain no matter how carefully they were tuned. Scientists were so confident in Newton that they invented an entire hidden planet, called Vulcan, and spent decades searching for it to explain the discrepancy. The planet did not exist. The discrepancy existed because space near the Sun is so severely curved that Mercury, being the closest planet, feels the warping more intensely than Newton's flat-space math could account for. When Einstein ran the numbers with curved spacetime, Mercury's strange precession fell out of the equations perfectly, with no fudging, no hidden planets, no adjustments. That single calculation was the moment we knew the old universe was gone. So when you look up and picture the planets held in place, let go of the strings. Nothing is holding them. Nothing is pulling. The Sun simply carved a shape into the fabric of existence, and everything nearby is faithfully, silently rolling along the walls of that shape, mistaking the curve for a straight line, mistaking free fall for a bond. Gravity was never a force gripping the planets. It was the geometry of the stage they dance on, quietly telling them where straight ahead actually leads.

Dudley wants the Fed to publish its reaction function. Whose? Warsh just drew three dissents and calls the family fight a "design feature." This isn't 12 voters with one reaction function anymore. It's 12 voters with 12 reaction functions. Dudley's right that Warsh at least owes us his. But a function of what? Warsh: "We're going to deliver two percent inflation and not a whisper more. But to achieve that, I'm looking at a broader set of inflation data than PCE." He needs to define the metric before he can give us the rule. Then we're only 11 short of understanding this Fed. @NickTimiraos @lebas_janney

The 30-year is up 12 basis points to 5.21%, a new 19-year high. The market is worried about inflation and wants the Fed to act. If it does not, the market will. Bond traders will stop panicking (chart below) when the Fed starts panicking. The Fed/Warsh did not panic today.
