If you have recently driven over a pothole, it is worth checking your tyres afterwards. Potholes can cause damage to tyres that may not be obvious at first glance. Looking for cuts, bulges or pressure changes helps make sure your tyres are still safe to drive on.

Before you hit the road, remember ACT: 🔹 Air pressure 🔹 Condition 🔹 Tread Even unused tyres can lose pressure, crack, or weaken over time. Stay safe. Check before you tow. Around 6 million tyres on UK roads are illegal. That is a lot of eggs in the wrong basket. Before you set off for Easter egg hunts, family visits or long weekend trips, check your tread depth. The legal minimum is 1.6mm but 3mm is recommended for better wet grip.

Part worn tyres may seem like good value, but illegally sold part worns can be dangerous. Some are sold with hidden damage, unsafe repairs, or tread below the legal limit. Always buy from reputable retailers. Don’t forget your tyres are the only thing connecting you to the road.

Tyres do not care if you are late, tired, or just around the corner from home. If they are worn or underinflated, grip will suffer. Spend five minutes checking tread depth and pressure so your tyres are ready when the unexpected happens. #checktyres
