Today, the Directorate of Complaints, Investigations and Legal Services conducted a training for staff from the Kampala Regional Office and selected Head Office staff on the Digital Human Rights Case Management System. The system was developed by consultants from TUCKSEE with support from the National Information Technology Authority–Uganda (NITA-U). The Uganda Human Rights Commission was nominated by @NITAUganda1 to benefit from the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project (UDAP), a World Bank-funded initiative. Once fully operational, the system will automate the entire complaints management process, from the receipt of complaints, through investigations, to tribunal hearings. The training was officially opened by the Ag. Chairperson, Hon. Lamex Apitta Omara. Participants were welcomed by the Ag. Director of Complaints, Investigations and Legal Services, Ms. Dorcus Musiimenta, and the session was officially closed by the Ag. Secretary, Mr. Kamadi Byonabye. The training programme will continue across all the Commission’s regional offices throughout the country.

Last evening, the @ChairpersonUhrc, accompanied by Hon. @ckaheru and Director @mutumba_n, joined other distinguished guests at the residence of the European Union Ambassador to celebrate Europe Day 2026 and mark 50 years of the European Union’s partnership with Uganda. The Uganda Human Rights Commission appreciates H.E. @JanSadek, the EU Ambassador to Uganda, and the @EUinUG for their continued support, cooperation, and partnership towards the growth, development, and promotion of human rights in Uganda.

This morning, @ChairpersonUhrc, Hon. Mariam Wangadya met a delegation from the Norwegian Embassy based in Dar-es-Salaam. The delegation was headed by the Norwegian Ambassador to Tanzania, the Comoros, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda H.E Tone Tinnes. The Chairperson was accompanied by Members of the Commission; Hon. @lo_apitta and Hon. @ckaheru. They discussed avenues for collaboration to enhance the protection and promotion of human rights.

Yesterday, the CUUL team was hosted by the UHRC library team. We held discussions on CUUL services, trained on accessing eResources, and provided guidance on EIFL resources. We also explored eResources advocacy and addressed team querries. #collaboration4excellence

Ms. Sheila Kawamara Mishambi was granted a Journalism Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding courage and resilience in documenting and reporting on the 1990- 1994 Civil War and genocide in Rwanda for Uganda audiences. @ubctvuganda @UHRC_UGANDA @UCC_Official

Mr. John Muto Ono P'Lajur was conferred the Journalism Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding courage and contribution and resilience in documenting 1986-2006 Civil War in Northern Uganda.He was represented by his former workmates. @UCC_Official @ubctvuganda @UHRC_UGANDA

After the Walk for Press Freedom earlier this morning, the Uganda Human Rights Commission has joined the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) and other entities for a football tournament at Kitante Primary School. Hon. Shifrah Lukwago, Member of the Commission has graced the tournament, flagging off the UHRC men’s football team before their first game.
