Across Missouri, rural communities face critical healthcare shortages. UMKC is building a statewide pipeline to help close that gap. Through rural-focused education, expanded training sites and new residency pathways, UMKC prepares the next generation of healthcare professionals to serve where they’re needed most. Initiatives like the Rural Pathway Program, new training opportunities across the state and the new medical school building in St. Joseph support students from rural communities and help them return home as physicians, pharmacists and other healthcare providers.
