@HarshaWalia That's because a sizable number of the anti-war left peddle light-regime change policies that still position Iran to be more of a problem than their own militarised societies. The fact that too many don't even know that Iran has been under US sanctions for 47 years says much.

Its sickening to witness open calls for genocide. Its also crushing there is no significantly organized mass anti war movement in the imperial core, despite decades of war & years of livestreamed genocide. "Everything you do, even if small, matters" is ringing hollow for me tbh.

The problem with seeing anarchist-abolitionists despair about the absence of an anti-war movement for Iran is that they still refuse to reckon with how they have vociferously participated in the delegitimization of the Islamic Republic, and cannot still bring themselves today to recognize that it has paid a price for refusing to abandon Palestine. If you have been arguing for the dismantlement of the IRGC, and therefore the Islamic Republic, for years, how could you expect anything but a defanged anti-war movement today, especially if you still cannot bring yourself to accord any legitimacy to the state formation whose collapse is the strategic aim of this genocidal violence.

Professor @bikrumsinghgill reminded me: Trump can existentially threaten an entire civilisation. And the fact that the US is not experiencing of a crisis of legitimacy in this moment. With no mass mobilisation and direct action against the sitting p*dophile and administration, is due to the years of demonisation and delegitimisation of The Islamic Republic. For every academic and leftist social commentator who said “regime” and “supported the people” you contributed to this. You have a direct hand in reproducing the logic that now allows for the president to threaten mass extinction of a people. We won’t forget.

A seventh prisoner, Umer Khalid, remanded at HMP Wormwood Scrubs has today begun his hunger strike. His demands are: End Censorship Immediate bail A right to a fair trial There are now 8 individuals in British prisons participating in the campaign, the govt has yet to respond

Two prisoners in British jails, Qesser Zuhrah and Amu Gib, have begun an open ended hunger strike, on the 108th commemoration of the Balfour Declaration. More prisoners for Palestine will join them, demanding bail, a fair trial and for Palestine Action to be deproscribed.
