Bitcoin is the most transparent monetary system ever built. Every transaction public. Every coin accounted for. Anyone can verify the ledger. Then Jane Street happened. One of four firms controlling BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF now faces a federal lawsuit for front-running a $40 billion collapse. Their disclosed IBIT position is $790M. Their derivative exposure is invisible, because current rules don’t require showing it. The base layer is radically transparent. The financial layer built around it is not. That is the real lesson of this week. Bitcoin solved transparency in code. The next step is deciding whether the architecture around it wants to meet the same standard. That conversation starts now.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to have dinner with Robert Duvall at SXSW. My friend Angie Cepeda was presenting Wild Horses, the film he wrote and directed alongside Josh Hartnett and James Franco. He was 84 and had an energy that caught you off guard. He talked with passion about film, about Argentina (his wife Luciana was Argentine), about life. Seven Oscar nominations, a career spanning seven decades, and zero pretension. Just a real guy sitting at a table, enjoying a good conversation. Rest in peace, Bob. What a privilege to have shared that table with you!

So who wins? Not the ones making the most content. Not the aggregators. The ones who can stamp VERIFIED on reality. Proof of human. Proof of source. Proof of truth. Everyone else becomes noise. If you're in media and not thinking about this, you're already behind. ⚡

The business model is cooked. No traffic = no ads. No ads = no revenue. Media companies are optimizing headlines while the entire floor is disappearing under them.
