On behalf of our entire agency, we extend our deepest condolences to the men and women of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and to the families, friends, and loved ones of the Pilot and Paramedic Trooper who lost their lives in the line of duty on the evening of February 4, 2026.   Our thoughts remain with their families and colleagues mourning this tragic loss.  Losing two public servants in the act of protecting others is a tragedy that resonates well beyond agency boundaries.  We grieve with you, we honor their sacrifice, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with AZDPS during this difficult time.   We recognize the extraordinary courage and selflessness demonstrated by the AZDPS Ranger helicopter crew as they responded to assist the Flagstaff Police Department during an active shooter incident.  Their courage to place themselves in harm’s way in service to their community embodies the very best of the law enforcement profession.    With deepest respect and solidarity,   US Border Patrol Tucson Sector

It was an honor to meet with Tohono O’odham Nation Chairman Verlon Jose, Vice-Chairwoman Carla Johnson, and members of the Tohono O’odham Legislative Council. This crystal meth is no gem, but we are glad WE found it. Border Patrol Agents found two backpacks filled with meth last weekend. The first abandoned backpack was found on Friday west of Interstate 19 near Tubac, AZ. Agents patrolling on foot near a small mountain range discovered an olive drab backpack under a tree. Inside the bag agents found over 26LBS of methamphetamines packed in plastic. The second bag was found near the ghost town on Ruby, when agents tracking a group of suspected illegal aliens found a discarded camouflage backpack in a brushy area. When agents inspected that one, they found over 27lbs of crystalized methamphetamine drugs in plastic containers. A thorough search of the areas was conducted; however, no arrest was made in connection with the drugs. The seized drugs will be processed for evidence and ultimately destroyed on a later date. #BorderSecurity #NationalSecurity #arizona

Last week Border Czar @RealTomHoman and @CBPCommissioner Rodney Scott visited Tucson Sector Border Patrol. Their visit included several briefs from Tucson Sector management on current operations in the Sector. In addition, CBP’s Office of Air and Marine Operations (AMO) management provided an Operational flight over the west desert corridor to observe the current terrain and infrastructure deployment. Czar Homan and Commissioner Scott also made time for a visit to the Ajo station where they spoke to line agents and management about the current operational posture of the area. Ajo station is currently experiencing the highest level of border operational control in recent memory; a stark contrast to just a couple of years ago, when agents were mitigating thousands of illegal aliens entering daily. #Border #lawenforcement

State and Federal Partnerships Matter! On December 7, a Tucson Sector BORSTAR Agent jumped into action assisting AZDPS in rescuing a stranded hiker. The incident began when a AZDPS Ranger Helicopter crew received a 9-1-1 distress call about an injured hiker stranded on a steep rock face in the Catalina Mountains. Shortly after noon, the AZDPS helicopter crew, along with the BORSTAR Agent, located and extracted the hiker, who had sustained injuries from a fall. The helicopter crew transported the injured hiker to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. This is a great example of the importance of State and Federal relationships. #arizona #rescue

You can’t outrun the law, even in a Mercedes! On 12/03 at 7:00 p.m., Border Patrol agents working checkpoint operations near Tombstone, AZ, foiled a human smuggling event of two illegal aliens from Mexico. Two permanent residents were arrested carrying two fully loaded Glock 17 handguns. Oh, and the Mercedes C43, we seized that too! Soon, the two permanent residents will face the full force of the U.S. Judicial System and learn firsthand how serious we are in our relentless pursuit of National Security. Fentanyl Smugglers will try anything to smuggle their product! Fortunately, Border Patrol is here to stop them. 11/25: Fentanyl poses a grave threat, and smugglers will go to extreme lengths to get it across our borders. Fortunately, U.S. Border Patrol is here to stop them! On November 25, Nogales Border Patrol agents at the I-19 Immigration Checkpoint successfully intercepted nearly 30 pounds of fentanyl. Agents conducting a thorough secondary inspection located multiple plastic-wrapped packages hidden within the engine compartment of a compact SUV. The dangerous substance was confirmed via electronic testing. A local woman and a Mexican national with a border crossing card were arrested and processed for drug smuggling. Two Mexican Smuggling Scouts arrested in the US! 11/25: Ajo Border Patrol agents received assistance from a CBP Air and Marine Operations (AMO) helicopter in arresting two suspected smuggling scouts perched atop a mountain near the Border. Agents operating remote surveillance technology spotted a pair of human smuggler scouts on a mountain north of the U.S./Mexico border but needed the help of an AMO helicopter to make the arrest. The AMO helicopter transported agents to the elevated position where the scouts were last seen to initiate a search. During the search of the area, agents discovered surveillance equipment and solar panels utilized by human smugglers to counter law enforcement. Most importantly agents also found and arrested two Mexican nationals illegally in the country from the state of Sinaloa at the scout site. Both individuals were processed at the Ajo Station for immigration violations and potential human smuggling charges. This smuggler had orange bricks, blue pills, and caught red-handed by Border Patrol. 11/20: A Border Patrol Agent canine team from the Ajo Station conducted a vehicle stop near Gila Bend, AZ. During the stop, the Border Patrol canine team detected a large cache of drugs concealed within the vehicle. In total, agents seized over 100lbs. of fentanyl pills and fentanyl powders combined. The driver, a 31-year-old United States citizen, was arrested under drug smuggling charges. He faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. Hidden Compartments Lead to Very Visible Consequences!   DIY hiding spots don’t beat vigilance, advanced training, and technology. If you hide it, our agents will find it.   On 11/20, two women were arrested attempting to smuggle narcotics in hidden compartments fabricated inside a Jeep Commander. Thanks to the vigilance of our agents, the sharp nose of our canine partner, and advanced technology, their plans didn’t stand a chance.
