How do we ensure government IT projects WORK and actually serve the public? Some sobering stats: 1. Of all government software development contracts over $6 million, only 11% are successful. 2. One study of 400 projects found that only 10% of traditionally-developed code was ever actually deployed. Only 2% was ever used. 3. 46% of systems developed across $35 billion worth of DoD spending failed to meet real needs even though they met written, contractual specifications. We're thrilled to announce that Tina J. Walha has been appointed as U.S. Digital Response's new CEO! As we celebrate our 5th anniversary of building government capacity, we're excited for this next chapter of impact under Tina's leadership. 🎉 🧵

Over 5 years, we've grown from an emergency response initiative to a lasting partner for governments. Our community now includes 11,000+ pro bono technical experts who've completed 600+ projects with nearly 550 partners across 50+ states and territories.

"I'm honored to step into this role at such a pivotal moment for both USDR and for governments across the country," says Tina. "Having been both a government partner and a USDR leader, I've seen firsthand the tremendous impact our organization can have."

Tina brings a truly unique perspective to the role. Before joining USDR's leadership team in 2021, she was a USDR government partner during her time as Director of Innovation & Performance for the City of Seattle—she's experienced our work from both sides!
