This action is part of Treasury’s ongoing efforts to ramp up economic pressure on the Iranian regime after it resumed destabilizing attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.

Ransomware groups utilizing these services have caused billions of dollars in losses to U.S. businesses and critical infrastructure providers.

Today, following Iran’s resumption of attacks on international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned an Iranian financial facilitator who has effectively institutionalized large‑scale embezzlement within the Iranian regime, diverting publicly funded wealth offshore. OFAC today also targeted key Iranian exchange houses that move billions of dollars annually on behalf of sanctioned Iranian banks.

Yesterday, Assistant Secretary for Investment Security Chris Pilkerton toured @BlueFors_Ltd's Syracuse facility and participated in a roundtable with company leaders, local officials, and @SyracuseU academic partners on strengthening U.S. quantum computing and other critical technology supply chains, advancing onshoring, and promoting investment that bolsters America's economic and national security. The visit underscores the Trump Administration's commitment to advancing U.S. leadership in quantum technologies, consistent with @POTUS @realDonaldTrump’s recent Executive Order on Ushering in the Next Frontier of Quantum Innovation. Bluefors also serves as an example of how foreign investment can support U.S. innovation and manufacturing after successfully completing the CFIUS review process. During the discussion, Assistant Secretary Pilkerton highlighted @USTreasury's Investment Security Technology Initiative and Strategic Vendor Program, key initiatives supporting the Administration's efforts to promote secure investment and build more resilient supply chains.
