Assuming this is true, which is a big assumption because these studies are questionable given the metrics used and lack of counterfactuals, the answer is not more government or banning things but empowering parents with more information.
Government could play a role through public education and other resources. Many best practices for parents and kids are now available online.
Why get in the way of parenting, force a digital ID, or expand government in our lives when the problems are much deeper than smartphones, social media, AI, etc.?
These are superficial things to grab hold of because they seem like the culprit and there is much negativity toward “Big Tech,” rightly or wrongly.
But we can’t miss the more fundamental problems that have long existed, well before smartphones and social media.
Stop legislating out of fear and blaming one thing for all problems. Both practices are bad.
