This guitar made its stage debut during Elvis’ opening run at the International Hotel and was later seen in Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, with footage now featured in Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert. On April 3, 1956, Elvis appeared on The Milton Berle Show, broadcast live from the deck of the USS Hancock in San Diego. Performing for a military audience, he sang “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Blue Suede Shoes,” and took part in a comedy sketch with Milton Berle. The appearance came during a rapid rise in national exposure, with Elvis already becoming a regular presence on television in 1956. ⚡
