Man I just saw the craziest sight here in Vancouver. Some guy at the Shoppers Drug Mart filled up a shopping basket absolutely full of candies and chips and other snacks and things and then just confidently strolled right out the front door. I told the old guy stocking the shelves, and he was like, “yeah and that’s not even the worst. I once saw someone walk out with a 50 inch TV.” He said sometimes the security guards do something, if they are authorized to make arrests, but usually not. He was from the Philippines. “Canadian law says you can’t touch them or that’s assault. Back home the guards have guns and they’d just shoot them.”

@MaxineDee54904 @JJ_McCullough We were allowed when I did it 08 to 10. Shoppers was pretty easy, watch them on the cameras, then go arrest outside the store.

@JJ_McCullough Did loss prevention for 2 years felt useless as we are not allowed to stop them. Until laws are changed to let security stop them this will happen.

@berezi04 @zjlaing The issue is if the video evidence is inconclusive, they will go by the refs guess. Its always that way though. Would have been better if called it a goal confidently.

@barnes_law The legal regime of a strait is always applied on a spacial maritime zone (territorial waters, EEZ, high seas..). Depending on the type of strait, different navigational regimes apply.

FYI: the Strait is territorial waters, not international waters.

@barnes_law @Artic_Angel1 US has long since recognized it as customary. US navy utilizes the right of transit passage all the time, explicitly, while transiting the strait. Not to mention 99% of the other UNCLOS provisions (including rights and obligations) that the US follows.

@Punainenpeto You are right. If the refs caught the first major, Curry would likely only have a 1 game suspension. Sometimes the refs need to save players from themselves.
