@TheCartelDel @8BitClosedFist Software has always moved hardware. For as long as I can remember and I’m old.
English

@8BitClosedFist Whoa. Me and my classmates literally only bought PS2's for Final Fantasy and Tekken??? This is a very crazy take outside of my immediate circles. You see the world differently from me for sure (not necessarily wrong, but different than my worldview for sure)

Tested a bit of vibe coding C++ and UE5 for the first time with Claude (Thanks @bcherny).
Goal was simple, needed to improve our in editor workflow for game designed, but UI take age to do by hands.
Setup a bunch of agents, in one week, was able to do 5 complexe windows for various tool, with validation, live update stuff like that.
It's incredible.
Of course you need to re-read a lot, and fix some error, and sometime it's doesn't really understand what you want, but most of the time, it work superwell.
Not totally fine for production atm, but in one years or two, oh my god.

@TheCartelDel As long as I remember the hate has always been there. Just amplified now by sheer volume. BBS, the old Neogaf forums shit was toxic.
English

I know I sound old, but I wish Gen Z had experienced forums. Instead of endless hate-posting, they were full of fun debates about season finales, canon insights and shared perspectives. They wre basically Fan Clubs built on appreciation, instead of engagement farming. If modern Twitter is a hater-fest, forums were a fun sanctuary.

Here are some of my thoughts on this. I think it’s a mistake to think progress just need more time and not at all consider how the technology actually works.

I see a lot of people pointing out the flaws in this video, and honestly, they're not wrong. The artifacting and visual glitches are obvious.
But the people who are anti ai making fun of people in tpot for liking this video are on the midwit top of the bell curve. I implore you to think a little harder.
Think back just 1-2 years. AI generated "games" were barely interactive slideshows with incomprehensible visuals. Now, we're looking at a coherent, playable, real time experience.
The leap from "unplayable visual soup" to "this" is massive. Stop framing it as "Is this good?" Frame it as "If this is the progress they've made in ~12 months, where will this technology be 18 months from now?" Another example would be Genie 3
