@peterrhague Oh I know, I just don't think this time will be any different. There are so many things that can be done to raise birthrates, we haven't even started to actually try: - Restructure away from nuclear family to ease burden - AI post-scarcity society - Motherhood 'conscription'

@mikusingularity People ascribe some magical meaning that human made structures of brick, timber, and metal are somehow inherently worse than natural landscape. They aren't. It's just stuff. What actually matters is the human and animal lives in those settings.

@KenKirtland17 It's really sad to see. Thankfully the majority of people in the space industry who care about Mars and colonization do care about humanity. So if Elon will foot the bill for Mars I don't particularly care, as long as he doesn't get key say in the laws of the settlements.

I have to wonder, why would a person with this view of humans care if humans explore the cosmos, make settlements outside of earth or "expand the light of consciousness"? Its just slop. Wouldn't sending some GPU's with a local LLM be better?

@space_jm_ Thing is it's not just other countries, but many internal debts too. But yeah, it's appalling how bad the national debt has gotten and I don't really foresee anyone becoming president any time soon competent enough to lower it to even pre-Trump levels.
