Balthilde and other new Dolls are refreshing cause you get to reexplore the concept that SKK is considered a weirdo in this world for how he treats them like people, not machines. It's easy to forget with all the old G&K Dolls because they've learned this already, it's why they worship the ground SKK walks on. And because of the... Lovecraft shit going on with Neural Clouds it is evolving them into advanced conscious beings. You can ask a computer to do a task it's not programmed to do 100 times, it's not gonna get better at it. That's how the Dolls are viewed. Yet the weird self realization and mental evolution they experience being pushed to act human, and be human, by SKK brings out anomalies. A crane doesn't get stronger working out, yet the Dolls do. They don't have social modules, yet they learn how to communicate and read emotions better. Leading SKK to be a force much greater than he looks on paper because he taught a bunch of murder robots how to feel, grow and evolve while the rest of the world is still treating them on the scale of Roomba to Star Wars battle droid.
