First conference win on the board! The Wheaton softball team hosted Carroll University for a CCIW doubleheader at Ruth Leedy Field this afternoon, and the Thunder defeated the Pioneers, 5-1, in Wednesday's opening game to pick up their first league victory of the season. Wheaton did not allow any extra-base hits and stranded 12 Carroll runners in an impressive defensive display. Abby Whitehead (pictured) opened the scoring with a home run in the first inning and led all players with two hits and two runs in the win. Shylah Dozeman joined Whitehead on two hits and scored one time, while Livi Figueroa earned a game-high two RBI. Dozeman collected her fifth win of the year with a complete game in the circle, tallying six strikeouts and allowing just four hits from 34 batters faced. Next up, the Thunder head to Wisconsin on Saturday for a 1 PM & 3 PM twinbill at Carthage College. #LetsRoll

A walk-off winner seals a big home sweep! The Wheaton baseball team hosted North Central College for a pair of conference contests this afternoon, and the Thunder defeated the Cardinals in both games to claim the season series and move above .500 on the year. Wheaton is now alone atop the CCIW standings with a 5-2 record in league play. The Thunder turned an 8-7 deficit around in the final inning of game two to secure a dramatic victory thanks to Jack Gill's walk-off RBI that scored Ryan Cartwright for the winning run. Wheaton's game one win was highlighted by another standout performance on the mound from David Levengood. The junior threw a 7.2-inning shutout and gave up just two hits while matching his career-high eight strikeouts. Levengood and Billy Kessler each earned their third wins of the season today, while JD Van Hook picked up his fifth save of the year in game one, tied for the most in the CCIW. The Thunder are back at Lee Pfund Stadium on Monday evening to host North Park for a single game at 6 PM. #LetsRoll
