Today, I hosted #Woking-based @WWF in Parliament ahead of #EarthHour, highlighting the urgent need to protect our planet. Earth Hour is a reminder that small actions matter, but we also need strong leadership and real change to tackle the climate and nature crisis.

West #Surrey Council is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for a fresh start. But that fresh start must be shaped by residents, not by councillors who haven’t faced voters since 2021. It was shocking that #Woking people were denied the right to vote last year.

I’ve raised the case of Sara Sharif from #Woking and the safeguarding review that exposed serious failings in #Surrey County Council and in the law. These failures cannot be ignored. We must act on the review’s recommendations in full to better protect vulnerable children.

Several young mothers and their children in #Woking are being evicted after funding for supported accommodation was cut by #Surrey County Council. For vulnerable mothers and children, this support is life-changing, losing it is inexcusable. I’ve asked the Government to step in.
