Canadian authorities detained me today as I tried to enter my home. They wanted to check my government issued pass to confirm I have access to the FIFA area, where I live. When FIFA and government demands we produce passes, I become concerned.

The funniest part of all of this, is while the South Koreans & the Norwegian/German JV compete like mad for the contract to provide the RCN with 12 diesel electric submarines, they must know that the CAF can’t afford 12 subs nor could they ever operate that many. Hell let history be your guide. In WWI we had 2 subs. In WWII 0, between WWII & the 60’s we had 3 captured U boats of which 1 was operational. In the 60’s to the 90’s we had 3 of which 2 were operational & from the 90’s to the present we’ve had 4. Of these 4, typically 1 was operational if not none. Currently 1 is fully operational. It should also be noted that every industrial investment offset promised is predicated by the gov buying all 12 subs, meaning, we will likely buy 4-6 subs & hope the winning bidder is foolish enough to deliver on all the promised goodies before the remaining subs get axed.
