He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. -Psalm 1: 1-3 Where have you planted yourself? Are your roots seeking the Living Water? Or are they seeking a foundation in the sewage of this world? Are they growing in the fertile soil of the Word? Or are they growing in the garbage heap of the world? Have you ever asked this of yourself and answered with honesty and sincerity? Because when you do, and you seek council from the Lord, you will be given the answer. One day, many decades ago, when I was all in on training my body to become a machine, one that was worthy of professional football, I bit into an apple. I was pretty hungry and it looked delicious. So I took a large bite. The kind that breaks off to the core. To my surprise, and disgust, the core was full of mold. I was shocked. The apple looked so good. The outer skin was without flaw. The flesh was crisp and juicy. But the inside, the core, was full of rot. In that moment I heard the voice of God that day...very clearly. In an instant, I realized God was showing me that my life was represented in that apple. That no matter how good the outside may appear, the inside, the core of a man, that is what matters to Him. I understood that without the Holy Spirit Living inside me that there was nothing but death and decay. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Ask yourself, what has been growing inside you? How long has it been growing? Are you creating roots in the fertile soil of God's kingdom? Are you planted by the rivers of water or the sewage of this world? Here's the good news. God can transplant you. God can remove the decay from inside you. God can lift the burdens weighing you down. He can and will cleanse you from all unrightiousness and bring you into the garden with the Living Water that it Christ, if you but ask. A new life awaits you. One full of purpose and fulfillment. One rooted in strength and power and righteousness. A life worthy of the calling that is Christ Jesus. He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Won't you open it to Him? He desires a relationship with you. He wants to bless your life beyond comprehension. He doesn't want to control you. He wants to walk with you and teach you and grow you into the person He created you to become before the foundation of the world was laid. He loves you beyond measure. He simply wants a relationship with you. Let Him in. Live well my friends. 👊🦏
