This woman is one of the most accomplished softball pitchers and coaches in our game! She’s the only person still to ever Play AND Head Coach in the Olympic Games!! Her impact on softball, pitching and Husker Softball is beyond measure!! She’s a constant learner, a world-class teacher and one of the best people I know. A former player called me last night. Her coach had just been let go, and her big question was: “Should I enter the portal?” So I asked her one thing: “Are you happy at that school?” Her answer: “Yes.” My response was simple: Then why transfer? You already earned a starting position your freshman and sophomore years. Why wouldn’t you be able to earn one again next year? Whether you stay and play for new coaches or transfer and play for new coaches, the reality is the same: you still have to prove yourself and earn your spot. So if you’re happy where you are, why leave?
