Reducing stress for parents may also help protect children’s health. When we think about preventing childhood obesity, nutrition and exercise often come first. But a study led by Yale psychologist Rajita Sinha finds that helping parents better manage stress may also play an important role. Explore what the research suggests for families: bit.ly/4bCPARR

Some days our bodies feel perfectly in sync. Other days, everything feels a little off. The body’s circadian rhythm acts as a daily guide for sleep and other essential functions. @YaleMed's Melissa Knauert explains how this natural cycle works and why keeping it aligned can support better health. Here's how you can keep your circadian rhythm on track: bit.ly/4skgHqq

Obesity is often framed as a matter of personal responsibility. But research is helping us understand a far more complex story. In a new Q&A, Yale endocrinologist Ania Jastreboff discusses her book with Oprah Winfrey and what science is revealing about obesity, metabolism, and GLP-1 medications. As AI chatbots become part of how we search for information, their responses may influence more than we realize. A new Yale study finds that interactions with these systems can subtly shape users’ social and political opinions, even when the technology is not designed to persuade. Some of the universe’s largest stars may be producing some of its smallest building blocks. In a new study led by a Yale undergraduate, researchers found that massive binary stars emit tiny carbon dust particles, helping us better understand how cosmic material forms and spreads through space. Think like a historian. In the Yale seminar “Historical Approaches to Global Affairs,” taught by historian David Engerman, students step inside the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library to examine archival records from the dawn of the nuclear age. Working with documents from journalists, policymakers, and scholars, they explore how the past can help us better understand global challenges today. Deepening our bond with the place we call home. Last week, Yale and the City of New Haven announced a new plan that strengthens city finances while advancing other shared priorities. Yale President Maurie McInnis joined New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker and Alexandra Daum, Yale’s associate vice president for New Haven Affairs and University Properties, at City Hall to outline the plan and the work ahead. The plan includes more than $230 million in voluntary payments from Yale to the city through fiscal year 2033 and projects related to housing, food insecurity, local nonprofits, and vibrant public spaces. “Yale, like New Haven, is facing uncertainty, but uncertainty is actually a prerequisite for making a commitment to our community,” President McInnis said. “We don’t make commitments because we know what is going to happen. We make commitments because we don’t know what will come. But we do know that we want to go through it together.” Learn more about Friday's announcement: bit.ly/40Puqd2

Over the years, Doonesbury has become more than a comic strip. What began as campus satire has grown into a long-running commentary on American life. Once known for its criticism of the Vietnam War, the strip increasingly explores the lived experiences of service members with care and nuance. Read more in Yale Alumni Magazine: bit.ly/3MJAAbr

Yale and the City of New Haven have announced a plan that strengthens the city’s finances and advances shared goals — from expanding housing and supporting local nonprofits to addressing food insecurity and enhancing public spaces. Under the plan, Yale will make voluntary payments to the city totaling more than $230 million through fiscal year 2033 while working with local partners on initiatives that support New Haven residents and neighborhoods. “Yale is committed to deepening our bond with the place we call home, and our increased level of support encapsulates that commitment and that continuity,” said President Maurie McInnis.
