My children were craving mortadella so much.
Yesterday, I managed to buy them just a small piece, even though it was expensive for me.
Today, I opened it and made them sandwiches for breakfast.
After a few hours, they asked me again, “Mama, can you make us more?”
When I opened the bag… I saw strange white spots on it.
I tried to remove the outer part, thinking maybe it was nothing.
But later… I found it completely spoiled.
My children had already eaten from it.
And I stood there… not knowing what to do, not knowing if it harmed them.
Even the little food we struggle to afford…
turns out to be unsafe.
I paid for it with everything I had…
and still couldn’t give my children something clean to eat.
This is our reality.
