The Yonkers Police Department mourns the loss of retired K9 Cali, who passed away on April 6, 2026. K9 Cali proudly served the people of the City of Yonkers alongside her handler, Police Officer Robert Ascolillo, after she joined the YPD in 2016. Generously donated by Parson-DiSalvo Insurance Company, she dedicated over six years to our community before retiring in August of 2023. K9 Cali was the YPD’s FIRST bloodhound K9. Throughout her career, K9 Cali was instrumental in locating numerous individuals and was recognized time and again for her exceptional work. She also made a lasting impact in the city, participating in hundreds of demonstrations and inspiring countless students through community outreach. K9 Cali was more than a working dog- she was a loyal partner and a beloved member of our Department and community. We thank her for her faithful service. A reminder that there is a municipal parking lot at Yonkers Avenue and Belmont Avenue. Please consider using the lot before double parking as double parking impedes the flow of traffic and the fines for it can be hefty.
