I have never been an anime person. Have tried like 7 different popular ones and ended up stopping a few episodes in/couldn't get into it. I've decided im going to watch all of One Piece. No stopping. This will either save or ruin anime for me. Wish me luck on this journey.

Post-War: Arc Review 🎩 Score: 9/10 This quick arc had to carry the weight of Marineford into it, and although it was extremely emotional throughout, I absolutely loved watching the ASL trio adventure together. I think I could have watched an entire series just about the three of them This arc also wrapped up a ton of questions about where the Straw Hats were sent and the journey to this "timeskip" that I had heard so much about. So let's get into it! - - - - - - - - - - - - - We finally got to see Luffy's backstory, or at least a good portion of it, which was exciting. Kid Luffy is so funny. That scene when he meets Dadan "yo!" lol - Luffy's relationship with Ace starting out as annoyance to what it became was so emotional. One of the best brother dynamics I've seen written out before. Seeing all the moments that would lead Ace to become a closed off person, all be broken by Luffy's love of just him existing... man, just so good. It makes the words Ace said when he died hit even harder when looking back too. - Oda is messed up for that one scene of little Luffy getting Rocky Balboa'd by a pirate with brass knuckles brah was that necessary?? 😭 - Like I put in my Marineford review, I have to think the reason Oda put this flashback before MF was to give it an underlying emotional feeling the whole time you watch. Essentially, how I see it: Ace dying was going to make you sad as fuck however it's written, however the backstory really is an open slate depending where its placed. If it was at the beginning of the series, you would be happy to see Luffy/Ace grow to adventure off (Minus Sabo's part). If it was before MF, it might do the same but make you more anxious. With it after MF, it gives a very melancholy feel to the whole thing. - That flashback scene where Ace is talking to Jinbei in Impel Down and he mentions when he saw Luffy in Alabasta for the first time since leaving each other, Luffy wasn't following him around as much and that he had found a crew of good friends who will look after him. I'd like to think that moment went through Ace's mind in the end knowing all the times he told Luffy he would never die because who's gonna look after his annoying little brother, but now there was some solace in knowing Luffy doesn't have that issue any longer after finding his crew of people 🥺 - Sabo was a great character too, I liked him a lot. I also LOVED his character design. Implementing an aristocratic, noble city next to their hometown gives the world and backstory SUCH a different feeling than what we were used to with the bits of Luffy's backstory before. And getting a character like Sabo who's against all of that to break the norm. Idk I just think it's all such clever writing. - Sabo dying is fucking messed up, especially after what just happened in Marineford 😭 I'll be honest, knowing One Piece I'm really assuming he's not actually dead, but maybe Oda wanted to hit the double whammy so idk. If I'm right I would really love to see Sabo be part of the journey soon. Also, now I'm wondering if Luffy had already known about the Celestial Dragons before Sabaody?? It didn't specifically show Luffy being told about Sabo's death so its unsure to me atm if he's aware of how he died, but I kinda want to go back and watch Sabaody to see how he reacts to them again. - Kuma showing up on the revolutionaries ship was INSANE! I know Iva said they were close but I didn't think THAT close. So what made Kuma go from a revolutionary to a government super-weapon of "peace"??? Dragon's boat was also seen at the childhood place of Zoro in this backstory which has me questioning a lot of things too.... hmmm. Maybe I'll make a full theory list post before starting the timeskip - To my understanding, Garp just left the kids with Dadan because he's busy with military life? I wanna know more details about Luffy's full family history before I start making full judgements on him, as he seems like a great (and very conflicted) grandfather but also like, bro just left the kids lol. Idk I need more details on him - Dadan going from someone completely terrified of Garp to standing up to him when he returned after MF was really emotional. That whole scene messed me up. I was a bit conflicted on Dadan too during the whole flashback, as she also was very standoffish but the emotion she showed when Ace/Luffy left and the later present-day scene, its clear she really cared a lot about those boys. Makino during this scene was a tough watch too, her little moment teaching ace how to have manners 🥺😭😭 fuck man that scene is so hard to watch. Garp being silent and tanking everything in that scene too, you really can tell how conflicted he is with everything. He even stepped down from his government role so... very interesting updates to play out soon. - When the flashback is over and Luffy breaks down saying he isn't strong enough to be King of the Pirates was crazy. From Sabaody losing the crew to now Ace being gone, Luffy is going through the hardest patch ever and I am PRAYING we get some real anime shit after this timeskip and he just goes absolutely berserk bro. TIME TO FUCK SOME PPL UP LUFFY 🗣️ - Jinbei solidified himself as one of my favorite characters in his interactions with Luffy leading up to this moment, and specifically when he stopped Luffy from hurting himself more. This whole scene was so emotional and now a top moment in the whole series for me; as Luffy cries out that he has his friends. - The parallels of kid Luffy telling Ace he wants to be stronger after losing Sabo, to current Luffy telling Jinbei he wants to be stronger after losing Ace really hit hard. Knowing what happened on Sabaody losing his whole crew, there's just no way Luffy let's something like this happen again. I really think the entire point of One Piece is the idea of a found family being the most important thing in life. - Lastly we finally got context where the Straw Hats went. It seems pretty clear now that Kuma DID send them somewhere that would benefit them in some way (Zoro at Mihawk's castle, Chopper stopping a war between ppl/animals, Robin with the revolutionaries, etc). So, 1) I'm very curious what their updates will all be after these two years, and 2) Why did Kuma do that? - The scenes of them all reading what's been happening to Luffy (especially Nami's) and that they weren't there to help them at his lowest as he did for most of them... heart shattering. I'm going to cry when they reunite. I already know it. - Luffy's message to the crew via what he did was really clever and I kinda felt like fucking Shakespeare figuring that out before it was revealed. The plot of Rayleigh being the old, wise mentor for Luffy is a great plot point, and we FINALLY LEARNED SOMETHING ABOUT HAKI THANK GOD. My big question though is... did Rayleigh tell Luffy what Kuma said to him on Sabaody? Because like, clearly that's got to be an important detail of sending his crew away... - Since I started watching, I had seen so many people talk about this "timeskip" and I'm ngl it felt like that term was the damn boogeyman. It sounded so ominous to me and I was scared of reaching that point and why there would need to be a "timeskip" lol, but apparently that's a fairly common phrase used in animes to push the story forward over time periods? If so, as a non-anime watcher, I just want yall to know that phrase has scared the shit out of me up until now 😭😭 But with where the story is now, and how everyone is going to use that time to become stronger, I feel much better about it! - - - - - - - - - - - - Again, so many things that are important to the story have been packed into these arcs that it's hard to write it all in a review haha but hopefully these got my points across and I didn't miss something big off top of mind :) SO, verrrry excited to see where this show goes now with so many plot holes to be filled and a crew reuniting to happen. I'm also very excited to see the animation get even better (and also a little nervous) For anyone asking what version I'm going to watch, I'm just sticking to Crunchyroll for everything. So whatever that version is (good or bad), I'm absorbing it all to get the full experience. I really don't think anything can make me "hate" this show so pls don't worry about that lmao I know the pacing is gonna get bad at parts and that's ok Full Marineford/Post-War video will be out probably next Friday/Saturday, and I'll continue with my watch most likely in a few days (like Monday or Tues). THANKS FOR READING!!!! FISHMAN ISLAND SOON 🐟🫡

Marineford: Arc Review ⚓️🔥 (another LONG one) Score: 9.9/10 ... Where do I even begin with this arc? This was by far the most entertaining arc to watch unfold; filled with the most character clashing, hype moments and combat we've seen. However, it also pushed the boundaries of emotional depth in this show to entirely new levels. The best way I can describe this arc's basic plot was like Avengers Endgame when everyone comes through the portals lol. We had Marines, Admirals, Vice Admirals, All 7 Warlords, 2/4 Emperors, A Straw Hat, Revolutionaries, Baroque Works Members & more... all coming together for a war in Navy HQ. That is INSANE!!! Getting to know most of these characters over our 500 episode journey and then seeing it all culminate in one place is really what makes the "One Piece is too long" argument feel irrelevant, as this wouldn't have NEARLY the impact it does without so much previous lore building. Just like Avengers Endgame final war scene was so impactful because it was 10+ years of buildup happening, this was no different. - - - - - - - - - - - - - First off, the tension building in this arc was insane. Starting off with the overall plot of 3 hours until Ace is executed and then it just continuing to build with new hurdles was so well done. Such as Aikanu tricking Squard to stab WB, Aokiji freezing the seas, the walls opening up around the base, the execution being moved up, the squad of pacifistas arriving, etc. Every episode was like a spike of anxiety being injected into your brain 😭 - The setting of this war was really cool. I think the design concept of Marineford HQ and the way it was utilized in so many ways was great - The reveal of Ace actually being ROGER'S son was fucking wild. I did not see that coming at all. When you first start the show I feel like its a common thought that Luffy would be directly related to Roger, but it never even crossed my mind that it could be Ace; and I think Luffy being the red herring there is a really good way to mask it. I had written in my notebook that I posted after Post-Enies that Ace and Luffy might not have the same parents (as in step-brother) but ngl Oda tricked my ass when Garp and Ace had that conversation in Impel Down about Ace's dad being a "heinous criminal" like they constantly describe Dragon, so I took the bait. Devious. - Whitebeard (and his power) was an absolute beast. I loved the animation of him like cracking the air to form tremors, super cool! He seemed like such a great guy too, especially when he forgave Squard for being tricked by the government instead of squashing him like a bug. - The moment Luffy & crew arrived from the sky is an absolute top moment for me in the show. All the tension of Ace's execution moved up and the Navy's plan to surround the pirates being interrupted when you see a ship falling from the sky and it shows hints of who's falling was so peak, I get teary eyed just thinking about it. There's years of conflict between all these mature older characters fighting for literally world-altering consequences, Garp is having a heavy heart-to-heart with Ace about his conflicting feelings of criminals vs family... and all of a sudden this relentless kid who's just caused them so many problems does it again and just appears out of thin air (literally) to break up their plans. I just LOVE the way Oda writes these moments to perfectly capture what makes Luffy such an amazing character. There were lots of other GREAT moments leading up to Ace's rescue: • Smoker v Luffy rematch • Luffy water log entrance against Admirals (PEAK) another one of my fav scenes in the whole show • Luffy's Conqueror Haki scene • Crocodile saving Ace • Luffy vs Koby (kinda, bro got smacked lol) • Luffy one shotting Garp to reach Ace • Mr 3 pretending to be a guard (goat lowkey) • Probably some more I can't think of off top of my head - Buggy's side mission becoming a Kick Streamer filming the war for all the people of the world had me cracking up. My love for Buggy has only risen with his fraudulent failing-upwards character development 😭 - The moment Luffy finally saves Ace had me bawling my eyes out I was so happy. The shot of fireballs forming to make Whitebeard's logo was so TUFF, and Luffy's big ole smile seeing his brother freed... man. Also anytime I hear Luffy yell "ACEEEEUUUU" it legit makes me tear up 😞 - What would happen in the next few episodes is just pure cruelty. I honestly didn't believe he actually got killed, and was why I posted that screenshot of the fist through his chest because, like every other situation in this show, ppl don't actually die. But no... this one was real. And it hurt. And it hurt even more thinking about how Luffy would handle it. The scene of Luffy just breaking down over Ace's dead body will forever be burned in my brain 🙁 (my posts sometimes go kinda viral so I'm trying to not just post captions like "ACE IS DEAD??" or "ACE IS ROGER'S SON?" during big moments to not spoil the masses if I can, hence why I didnt post him laying on the floor dead next to Luffy. Sometimes its necessary but if it can be avoided I'll try. The fist through the chest picture I think can still be up for debate if he survives if you have no context of the show so I left it up) - Yall asking me if I want donuts is fucked up lmao 😭🍩 (I will be doing the same for newcomers soon) - I want Aikanu tied to that log, with weights on each side, thrown into the sea and Spandam accidently falls in with him. - Retrospectively, I REALLY wish we had gotten more of Ace. Like one small arc somewhere between Alabasta and this would have been awesome just to see him in full power, but I do think the way in which Oda wrote his death without us seeing much (to later share more during Post-War backstory) is also a decision I am ok with. To me, it's a way in which our feelings change watching their backstory. If the backstory was BEFORE Marineford, we would feel more anxious and excited for them to reunite... but with it after he's died... we feel melancholy and it just has a very sad undertone knowing how their life would play out 10 years later. So while I wish we did get more Ace and Whitebeard in the show before this, I totally understand the decision!! - Whitebeard dying was also VERY unexpected. Aura for dying standing up tho fr. Again, a character we hadn't seen much of so while it was sad and crazy he died, I felt a bit of disconnect because we just hadn't seen much of him. However, it's very clear his impact has left a mark on so many characters we've met and, in the same way we know Roger as almost like a folk-tale that carried impact in the entire story, Whitebeard feels like that now too; except we actually got to see his strength in real time briefly. The fight vs Aikanu is a really sick example. His One Piece speech was really great and seems it will definitely be a major factor in the world around the crew going forward! THE ONE PIECE IS REALLLLL 🗣️🗣️ - Whitebeard vs Blackbeard was fire (before it wasn't) - Blackbeard is definitely going to be the main antagonist of the show if I had to guess. He now has a crew of Level 6 Impel Down inmates, the ability to cancel devil fruits AND absorb others ANDDD wants to be king of the pirates... he needs to be gone asap. - Shanks arriving was SO FUCKING HYPE oh my god. Of all people to show up and save Koby that was last on my list holy shit that was so epic. Shanks has so much aura he's so cool, I NEED to see him and Luffy reunite man. The scene of him grabbing his Straw Hat on the floor gave me actual chills I can't lie Ok this review is getting SO long, I will put all these thoughts into my video review coming out next week :) Last points: - Crocodile is so sick I hope we see more of him - Jinbei is a legend and such a great level-headed dude. - Law arriving was also sick. There is only one goated Dr though sorry, and his name is TONY TONY CHOPPER I'm prob missing some other big moments and sorry if so, it's a lot to remember LMAO but I'll get to all of it in my video review - - - - - - - - - - - - MY ONLY CONS: - Like I mentioned, I would have loved to see a bit more of Ace and Whitebeard before this arc. Again, I am totally ok with how Oda chose to go about it, this is just a personal wish because I loved Ace's ability and personality as a big brother so much - There were a couple times in this arc it felt like Luffy said "Ok Ace I'm coming", he runs and fights for like 2 episodes, and then he's still in the same spot lol. People were fighting him so he was getting stopped I know, but it did happen a lot of times to where it became noticeable lol - Shanks and Luffy didn't reuniteeeee DAMN YOU ODA. (yes I know he has to wait to keep his promise but still... damn you Oda) These are literally the only cons I could think of when watching so I wanted to throw them in, but they are hardly criticism. This arc was basically flawless in my eyes 🤩 - - - - - - - - - - - - OVERALL: This arc was fucking Awesome. Hype. Emotional. Traumatizing. Exhilarating. The entire range of emotions got their fair share. Met every expectation I could have for it and more. Pushed the story further than I can imagine. I have SO many thoughts running through my head of what will happen in the future. In every sense of the word... IT WAS PEAK. ----- Sorry these reviews are so long but if you enjoy reading them hey, cool :) ty Post-War arc review will be posted tomorrow & combined arc review video will be out next week. Appreciate yall for reading/following

Enies Lobby Arc: Review 🏴‍☠️🔥 10/10 easily By far the most emotional and entertaining arc of the series, a rescue mission for a crew member both physically and mentally! I cried 3 different times. This will be a long one... - This arc showcased just how far the Straw Hats are willing to go for any of their crew, even if those members don't think they deserve it. Signaling war against the world government to save your friend is top tier 🥲 - The concept of the island was really cool. A judicial government island in a waterfall with MASSIVE metal gates that’s basically a prisoner’s death sentence - Robin’s character development in this was absolutely incredible. The “I want to live” scene is probably the most emotional I’ve ever gotten watching anything. The music, the cuts between the crew with Saul’s speech, and Robin finally breaking and admitting she wants to go with them. It had very similar themes to Nami's saving in Arlong but enhanced to a whole new level. Seriously incredible character writing. This was cry #1 - Her backstory was so sad. F*** the world government and F*** Sakazuki. We got some interesting world lore here too. Saul’s speech was great, and I’m glad she found her people. Deri shi shi shi 😭😭 - The scene of everyone standing on the rooftop is one of my favorites in the whole show so far, just such a badass shot of everyone + Sogeking shooting the flag 🔥 - Luffy going Second Gear was EPIC, the drastic change to his speed and power kinda out of nowhere was so fun to watch. And it only got more hype the second time against Lucci + Gear 3rd! How many gears are there?? - All the CP9 fights were great, my favorite was Luffys ofc, but Zoro's and Franky/Chopper were great. Kaku being a giraffe man 🤣 The Nami/Kalifa fight was freaky as hell but shoutout Oda fr - Franky is a great and goofy man and had some good lines in this arc. He's going to be a SUUUPER addition - Robin snapping Spandam in half, I cheered IRL. Hate that guy with an absolute passion - Luffy vs Lucci was the BEST fight we've gotten in the show by far. The use of Gear 2, refusing to go down, jet gatlin, Usopp's speech to Luffy... PEAK. My absolute favorite scene of the whole arc is after this fight when Luffy yells to Robin, man the music here was beautiful and the slow cut to Robin turning around mid-battle with tears in her eyes 😭 Then we just get a big ole' Luffy smile... this was cry #2. I don't want this to be a 10 page long review, there were so many other amazing side-characters and moments... but last thing I have to mention is Merry's death ⛵️ Man... Everybody gangster 'till the boat start apologizing. Cried my eyes out. Honestly couldn't believe this iconic ship in the series is not with them anymore. The montage of all her moments, everyone crying in the snow watching, and Merry thanking them for everything... damn you and your impeccable writing Oda. This was Cry #3 There are so many more things I could mention that I loved but only limited typing space, so I will definitely put them all in my next video review, which I should have out next week (hopefully)! Incredible arc. Best character storytelling I've ever seen EVER. 10/10 -- This arc is the pinnacle of One Piece for me rn Will write a Post-Enies Lobby review here soon!
