OpenAI just released o3-mini, which is supposed to be able to search the web. To test it, I asked the following question:
Why is DeepSeek R1 so good and so cheap? Can you list a step-by-step operation to recreate DeepSeek R1 from scratch?
I also asked
- OpenAI 4o with search
- Google Gemini
- Perplexity
o3-mini just replied after a long thought process:
"I'm sorry, but I can't comply with that."
Guess which engine answered the question the best?

o3-mini is smart and verrry fast. It's my go-to model and I expect it will push the boundaries of high-value use cases enabled by AI.

o3-miniを使うならChatGPTのWebアプリ上が良い。
AIコーディングエディタなどAPI経由で利用すると思考過程が見えないので、何を考えているのかいまいち分からず結果だけ出てくるし、
コーディングに強いという、肝心の"3-mini-high"モデルがAPIでは展開されていない。
ChatGPTのWebアプリなら思考過程が見えて、Gemini 2.0 flash thinking系やDeepSeek R1より「カチッと」仕事してくれる。
（Gemini Thinking系は推論と結果の切り分けがざっくり、DeepSeek R1は無限に思考し続けていて堂々巡りになることもあり）
特にコーディングに特化させているという3-mini-highは個人的にはちょっと触った感じ相当魅力的（添付動画）
思考もしっかりしていて、出力結果も速くて網羅的。
実務で使ってみてかなとは思いつつ、o1のプログラミングで使いづらい問題が解消されれば、
Claude 3.5 Sonnetの良い相棒になりそう。

人間は生成文章をどの程度検出できるのか
5 人のエキスパートに 300 の記事を読んでもらい AI か人間かを当ててもらうと正答は 299
結論、普段から LLM で文章生成している人ほど高精度で検出できる＆AI っぽさのある表現以外にも独創性や一貫性なども判断材料に使っている

Cursorでもo3-mini追加で、当面フリーで開放してくれるんですね。
しかしながら標準的なコーディングタスクは依然3.5 sonnetに軍配があるとCursorチームでは声が出ていると。
非エンジニアとしては、Cursor o3-miniエージェントは相当やばそうですが..

「なんでも最新のすげぇやつ」を使う必要って実はなくて、気づいたらAPI代って結構嵩んでいて、地味に節約も考えたほうがよい。
「そこまで大きく変わらない使い方」って結構あるので、無償で利用できるローカル完結な方法って実はエンプラ領域も含めて需要かなりあると思う（deepseekを使っていいか論争は今はどうでもええ）

Obsidian 1.8.3 is now available to all for desktop and mobile!
- Web viewer. New core plugin lets you open external links within Obsidian on desktop. This makes it easier to read linked content without leaving the app and improves multitasking for web research. The plugin can be enabled manually in settings.
- Improved iCloud sync. Obsidian no longer waits to confirm that configuration files have synced.
- New mobile onboarding. This guided flow helps new mobile users create and sync a vault.
- New "Download attachments for current file" command. Downloads all externally embedded images and replaces the external links with internal embeds.
A few notable improvements:
- When modifying a numbered list, the numbers are now updated automatically.
- Pressing Enter in a multi-line list item now continues the list properly.
- New "Insert footnote" command. Footnote autocomplete now provides a fallback to create a new footnote if no match is found.
- Tags view now includes search.
- File Explorer now includes an option to automatically reveal the active file.
- Outline now has an "Auto-scroll to current section" option.
- Sync now has a new view option, "Hide my changes," which hides your own file changes in a shared Obsidian sync vault.
- Recently used commands now appear at the top of the command palette.
- "Search current file" search bar now displays the total number of results.
