My surprise with this is that there’s clearly and currently no LLM capable of replicating the game’s intended vision and art style, matching or surpassing the quality of video and animation created by human artists. While it may appear impressive and “close enough” to many, it also resembles generic AI videos that seem uncanny. Compared to their unveiling video of first game, this clearly resembles an AI generated video. All the elements that AI struggles to replicate, such as art style, lighting, exaggerated and nuanced animation, iconic facial features, the ingame engine, and many more, collectively add up to the video being labeled as “AI Slop.” This raises questions about their assumptions that the audience are Temu shoppers naive enough to accept anything.

Stellar Blade: BLOODRAIN director Kim Hyung-tae has responded to backlash over EVIE’s new music video after some viewers called it “AI slop.” Kim said EVIE was created by the studio’s artists and 3D modelers over more than a year and AI was only used to assist parts of the production process “EVIE… was created from head to toe by our talented artists and modelers through more than a year of dedicated work.” “The AI is not creating her from scratch.” “We would truly appreciate it if you could view the work with that understanding in mind.”

Genuinely curious if Asian market has accepted the AI slop with open arms? It seems like they don’t mind the AI generated content as much as we do in the west. Do they worry about their jobs being replaced or nah?

Tencent-backed Last Sentinel, an open-world sci-fi game once expected to rival GTA, could be canceled after six years in development.
Around 80 developers at Lightspeed LA have reportedly been laid off after poor internal playtests and years of development issues.
According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Tencent has rebooted the project and it’s most likely canceled, despite spending hundreds of millions of dollars on it.
