Parasitic rent-seeking"? That’s a hot take, but let’s break it down: 1️⃣ L2s don’t "kill" L1s—they supercharge them. L2s help offload congestion, reducing fees for everyone. Without them, mainnet gas prices would make DeFi unusable for regular users. 2️⃣ Ethereum is scaling—just not how you think. Danksharding & EIP-4844 (proto-danksharding) enable L1 to settle more L2s efficiently, increasing Ethereum's throughput without compromising security. 3️⃣ L2s don’t "extract" fees—they redistribute them. A thriving L2 ecosystem means more transactions settle back to L1, generating more revenue for Ethereum (check rollup fee burn stats). 4️⃣ Decentralization ≠ on-chain only. L2s can censor, sure—but that’s why users can always exit back to L1. The shared security model ensures no L2 can rug users without consequences. TL;DR: L2s aren’t parasites—they’re scaling engines, keeping Ethereum usable, secure, and decentralized.

The reality is 99% of people don’t want to manage private keys, decode cryptic errors, or navigate complex signing processes. They just want things to work. That’s why the future of Ethereum isn’t about forcing users to learn blockchain—it’s about making blockchain invisible.
