@AVARY I think it’s supposed to be a Wendy’s/Jack in the Box allegory.

@AVARY Stephen King criticized The Shining finding Kubrick too intellectual to really grab the audience and make a real horror film. Perhaps Rob Reiners MISERY is closer to the vibe King was after It's a fair comment altho the SHINING is a visual masterpiece.

@AVARY Well, that note certainly got lost prior to shooting, no? Strong and/or sadistic is about the last thing I would call Shelly Duval's portrayal of Wendy's character. She was about as meek and mild as could be. Am I missing something?
