Our country is run by a bunch of apathetic statesman who preach beliefs/values they don’t hold.
Each is quietly waiting for their turn on the seat with a non-verbalize agreement to quickly get in and out to give the next person a turn.
Due to this each person will prioritize quick deals or shady political methods to quickly get whatever they promised through before they take their exit.
They also will weed out or gang up on anyone who shows any leadership skills due to them inevitability braking that non-verbal agreement of quick in/out, meaning that each statesman to take the seat will be equal or worst then the last.

Both sides of the isle do this and both sides will help each other in doing this resulting in a uniporty of corrupt, apathetic, moronic, and hollow statesman.
