Why do I own $ASTS
TLDR: owning ASTS is a roller coaster of a stock but so is running a company.
I owned a plumbing company for 22 years and I sold it. People think holding ASTS is hard when the price swings like it has. I'll tell you what's hard. Hard is owning a company where you're technicians total 2 trucks in a week. Or how about getting the phone call in the middle of the night because something wasn't hooked up right earlier that day, now there an inch of shit in their basement. My favorite story though is a guy I worked with installed a tub for a fat nurse. Later that night, her daughter called to get him back out to the house. She wouldn't tell why just that she needed him to come now. He showed up and her mother was stuck in the tub. The kind of stuck that happens when fat meets water and porcelain. He asked why didn't you call the fire department. Because my mom knows all the guys at the fire station. They work together a lot. Tonight you're the fire man and the plumber. After 30 minutes and quick use of a yard stick between her back and the porcelain, she was free and their relationship was never the same again.
When I sold, I sold for more than I thought it was worth but there were days like the bathtub day where I would've given the company away to anybody that wasn't my friend or family. Between dealing with payroll and collecting and keeping customers and employees happy, the challenges never stopped.
Here's where ASTS comes in. When I sold, I paid off my debts and went all in on 1 stock. I figured with AST, the headaches of employee and payroll and trucks were handled by professional people. All I had to do is buy and hold. Simple huh.
I didn't anticipate the ride being as rocky as it's been and yes I'm really down. I even have 2 accounts in case my wife wants to see one. And I'm not giving financial advice but I still believe in @AbelAvellan and his team.
I believe in the technology. I don't understand most of what guys talk about on the technical side but I do understand that I hate it when my phone doesn't work or when Im in the mountains and I have no signal. AST has the best technology for broad band and can do it for far less money then their competitors. Will they succeed? Yes I believe they will. When the deal is right, there's always money available. Have there been mistakes and a steep learning curve along the way. Of course, but mostly timing mistakes. I believe they're solid on the technical side. I've waited 3 years, so what if it takes another year or two. Hang in there gang!
