Oil and gas are good for Africa. President @realDonaldTrump's cancellation of toxic and absurd aid programs promoting the use of renewable energy such as wind, solar, and other literally absurd things on the African continent is something we applaud and appreciate. The continent does not have the financial resources to subsidize energy sources that cannot even power a neighborhood of 1,000 people without the help of subsidies to disguise and cover their high production costs. We cannot base our development on the charity of others; this has never worked, does not work, and will never work. The African continent has the right to use all the cheap energy sources at its disposal to lift the more than 600 million Africans living in abject energy poverty. This includes oil, gas, coal, nuclear, hydroelectric, etc. The African Energy Chamber @energy_african, as the voice of the african energy sector, is in China to invite Chinese investors to bring their resources to the African continent to do business in the hydrocarbon sector in a win-win framework; it's a language China understands. Africa’s export reached $700 billion in 2023, with hydrocarbons, minerals and metals forming the backbone of the continent’s trade, totaling $480 billion ( 68% of total trade). This export structure underscores Africa’s heavy reliance on natural resources; in other words, the continent does not export highly added value products. To put things in perspective, a single company like NVIDIA’s market capitalization is almost five times Africa’s total exports and doubling the continent’s GDP. This should be a wake up call for african political and business elite. While the Africa should continue producing and exporting natural resources to fight energy poverty and secure cash influx that the continent desperately needs, a considerable effort should be put into investing in science and technology based industries to minimize the gap with advanced economies and provide a better tomorrow for future generations. #oott #economicdiversification #technology

The African Energy Chamber’s CEMAC Executive President Mr. @Nze3 highlighted the necessity for policymakers in the CEMAC region to implement business-oriented and practical regulations to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), during the CABEF (CENTRAL AFRICA BUSINESS AND ENERGY FORUM) in Libreville, #Gabon. He emphasized that the CAPA project, aimed at achieving energy independence for the region, represents a significant opportunity. However, its success is critically dependent on securing adequate financing from regional banks, which currently appears insufficient. Mr. Leoncio Amada Nze suggested that if public funding is lacking, the private sector should take the lead in driving and financing this initiative. To facilitate foreign investment, he proposed the elimination of customs tariffs between CEMAC member states and the dismantling of BEAC's foreign exchange regulations, which he argued are obstructing business and strategic projects like CAPA. #CEMAC #CABEF #BusinessInvestments

Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria Sign Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline Agreement, Signaling New Era of Bilateral Cooperation In a move set to strengthen bilateral cooperation in West Africa, Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria have signed an agreement for the construction of the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline Project. A joint regional pipeline development, the project will transport gas from Nigeria to Equatorial Guinea. Under the terms of the deal, gas will be processed at Equatorial Guinea’s LNG processing facilities at Punta Europa on Bioko Island – owned by the state-owned EG LNG – signaling new opportunities for energy security on the back of bilateral collaboration. The pipeline will transport natural gas from Nigeria to Equatorial Guinea for processing, further solidifying the country’s position as a regional gas hub. "The cross-border gas deal between both Head of State (#Nigeria/ #EquatorialGuinea) is a major milestone when it comes to intra African energy cooperation; both countries are poised to win in this deal , #Nigeria will be able to make money from its marginal gas fields close to the border with #EquatorialGuinea, and #EquatorialGuinea will make money from tolling fees at its existing gas liquefaction facilities in Punta Europa. This is a great example of what could be done on a more larger scale on our continent when countries work together; it is now time for NNPC and SONAGAS to get to the table and negotiate technical and commercial terms to get the gas flowing and start making money.
