Alan Joyce has fast tracked his retirement and will leave #Qantas as CEO after claims the airline sold tickets for thousands of flights it had already cancelled. Joyce will leave on Sept 6th, previously due to hand over to Qantas CFO Vanessa Hudson in November. $QAN

Liontown Resources announced it received a revised proposal from Albermale to acquired all of its outstanding shares for $3.00 per share. After reviewing Albermale’s bid, the #Liontown board has granted an opportunity to conduct exclusive due diligence. $LTR

The Federal Government recently launched a review of Australia Post’s business model - releasing a paper citing the diminishing viability of letters. #AusPost’s parcel business grew steadily, however losses in their letter business increased by over 50% to $384 million.

#Qantas delivered a record profit, underscoring the strength of the post-pandemic recovery for airlines. The leading ASX airline announced a big cash spend on Boeing & Airbus jets, a $500 million buyback for shareholders and gave $500 travel credits to their workforce. $QAN

NVIDIA beats estimates and says sales will jump 170% this quarter, driven by demand for A.I chips. $NVDA shares climbed +6% after hours after lifting their guidance for this quarter. They expected Q3 revenue of $16 billion, far higher than the $12.61 billion consensus estimate.

Leading ASX miner #BHP saw its revenue drop by over $10 billion and a -37% fall in its profit for FY23. The decline was driven by weaker prices for its commodities including iron ore, coking coal & copper. $BHP

#Amazon has begun construction on its second Robotics fulfilment centre, north of Melbourne. When completed in 2025, the fulfilment centre will span over 200,000 square metres across 4 levels - equivalent to 11 MCG’s, the biggest warehouse ever built in Australia. $AMZN

Elon Musk’s brainchip company #Neuralink has raised a $280 million Series D funding round. The funds will be used to work through FDA concerns with its brain-computer interface and secure authorisation to start a clinical trial of the device.

Commonwealth Bank has grown full-year cash profits 6% to a record $10.2 billion. CBA’s profits were driven higher by elevated interest rates, though net interest margins shrunk with increased loan competition. $CBA
