I had the pleasure of reviewing @AlexMStark’s book: The Yemen Model for the German-Yemeni Society‘s Jemen Report. Thank you @MarieHeinze for the opportunity. An excerpt from my review: “Over these two decades, I have seen many Yemen experts come and go. Some were freelance journalists based in Sana‘a, others arrived to study Arabic and fell in love with the country. Many explored Yemen through university research, while few worked on it professionally. Some seemed to emerge unexpectedly and then disappear just as quickly. There were those who remained unfazed by conflict, those who were not “afraid of the bullets,” others who “fell from the sky,” those who examined how “Yemen endures,” and those who studied the delicate act of “dancing on the heads of snakes.” Others chronicled al-Qa‘ida’s “last refuge” or took a satirical approach, writing about “salmon fishing in the Yemen.” Ultimately, all of these perspectives contribute to the broader dis- cussion of “the Yemen model,” the title of the book I want to review here.” If you are interested in reading the book review please send me a direct message.

Yemen's Houthis announced the following casualties from U.S. airstrikes: Second Lieutenant Al-Murtada Mohammed Hamid Al-Din, Second Lieutenant Nu'man Hindwan Al-Hindwan, Second Lieutenant Bilal Saeed Al-Samawi, and Second Lieutenant Rashad Ahmed Jahlan. The funeral service was held at Al Saleh Mosque, which the Houthis have renamed Sha'b [People] Mosque.
