Who funds the BJP in Northeast India? Over several months, I analysed the BJP’s donations from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur & Tripura, tender databases and financial records of companies. A clear pattern emerged. 1/n @reporters_co

The silence is profound over what's happening in Manipur. Unlike 2023, the vocabulary broke down this time. "How can Christians kill Christians?" — But there have always been layers here that the mainland's framework can't hold. And this is the pattern: when a situation defies easy categorisation, it disappears. ("how can we fit it all in just 1 minute for the reels, nobody understands Manipur anyway").

The political class across the spectrum watches #Manipur in silence as the State is ineffective and people are pitted against each other. The state's failure this time has pitted the Kuki-Zo against the Naga. Why are our young men and women from all the communities not entitled to the same dignity and safety of life as elsewhere in the country?

One can understand (and vehemently criticise) why the Modi gov't does not speak to the escalating violence in #Manipur. How citizens of Kuki and Naga communities are being forced into increasing confrontation now. But why is the Indian political opposition blind and muted? We cannot let our people fall into a space where the govt uses it's own failure to justify more violence in the state. Regardless of how the opposition reads the situation for its political positions in mainland, it's incumbent upon them too to speak for the hapless citizens of Manipur caught in a spiral or violence as the gov't continues to fail.

Manipur hostage crisis worsens. Office of United Naga Council, apex body of Nagas in Manipur, came under attack today for initially agreeing to release of 14 Kukis without ensuring reciprocal release of 6 Nagas. Release has now been cancelled.

Everyone should watch this speech. "The irony of accepting an award for covering a genocide in the very country that enables that genocide should not be lost." AJ Faultlines documentary, Kids Under Fire, won "Outstanding War or Violence Conflict Coverage" at the 2026 News #Emmys in New York City yesterday. Josh Rushing dedicated the award to journalists killed by Israeli forces.

Our member @AnganaCk recently travelled to #Manipur & #Nagaland to understand & report on current phase of #Manipur conflict with tensions rising between Naga & Kuki communities. She went without waiting for funds. She has a small appeal. Please stay tuned for her stories.

My colleague @AnganaCk is reporting from Manipur as the conflict escalated again after 3 years. This time between the Kuki-Zo and Naga groups. Why is the state failing? Support her investigation. 👇

3. He could speak to Kowa because of @AnganaCk brilliant investigations on #Manipur. She is trying to find more answers as she is reporting from the violence-hit state. We didn't wait for funds to send her to the ground, as it was urgent.

The violence in #Manipur continues. Civilians are kidnapped and killed, and their villages are being burnt. The conflict is now escalating between the Kuki-Zo and Naga community groups in the hills. For more than three years now, those living amidst the violence are losing out on family, friends and livelihoods. The conflict may not make headlines today in the rest of India, but it's brewing ominously for the people of Manipur. What, and who, is pitting the Naga and Kuki-Zo people against each other? To find answers, my colleague @AnganaCk is right now reporting in Manipur and Nagaland. We didn't wait to fundraise for her travel and reporting. It was urgent.   Please donate for Angana's reporting and travel. Her investigative reports will be published soon. Catching up on this hubbub over the Prime Minister’s “non-answer” in Norway, while reporting in Manipur has been strange — because here Delhi has really left the room. State inaction has propelled this conflict to grow and involve other communities. Mr. Prime Minister, would you care to comment? [Pic from yesterday: Litan, where the Kuki and the Tangkhul Naga community fought back in February — the new flashpoint in the conflict. Security forces have replaced the residents out here]
